This is a cultural exploration into food unlike any other by one who is and expert on Caribbean foodways.

Kari has been featured on MSN, The Daily Meal, Apartment Therapy, BBC Good Food for her ability to weave Caribbean flavours in a ways that modern and sophisticated still remaining inherently authentic.

She’s the Doyenne of Entertaining of Home and people come for the food but stay for Kari. She has many repeat guests and referrals because her experience makes you really experience the intimate side of Caribbean Culture.

What To Expect

Arrive to my house, be greeted with a tasty and refreshing mocktail and the sounds of Caribbean music in the background, gather around my kitchen island as I introduce myself and share a brief history of the foods of the Caribbean including Jamaica and Aruba and the menu of the day. You are getting insider access to Caribbean cooking, family style (as opposed to restaurant style). The Caribbean home is a very sacred space open only to family. You are getting the rare privilege to join ours. You will be assigned to different tasks in order to help to prep and cook. We will chat and laugh and dance and make merriment as we cook. Once the food is cooked, you will sit and eat together. Please let me know if you have any allergies. This is not a nut-free house. We are able to make Caribbean keto dishes as well if you request this upon booking.

I'm so glad we took this class, as it was one of my favorite excursions ever! Kari welcomed a small, intimate group (6 participants) into her home where together we prepared 5 dishes and a fresh juice. Kari encouraged us to taste the spices and savor the aromas as she explained the techniques we used and shared stories about the island culture. In the end we all sat down to share a delicious meal and camaraderie among new found friends. An unforgettable evening.

Chef Kari invited us into her beautiful abode. She spent 2 hours getting to know each one of us while preparing a wonderful meal and involving all of us in the preparation process. We sat down together at her dining table and broke bread with travelers we had just met. Her son Elijah ate with us and was an excellent host as well. Eric and Kandee

Kari was absolutely delightful! We learned so much about Caribbean cooking and as abonus about healthy eating and important nutrients. Kari was entertaining and energetic and made us feel at home. I highly recommend!

Will not go wrong. Hospitality like no other. You will feel welcome from the moment you meet her. She has a lovely home and you learn some of the most delicious Carribean recipes. You get great music, great conversation, great food. I'm honestly sad that our time had to come to an end, but extremely grateful for the experience. Worthy of every Cent.

Chef Kari was a true delight, she welcomed us into her home with so much love. The welcome drink was delicious. I love learning to cook different cuisines so this was exciting and fun to do. Chef Kari explain in great detail the ingredients and history of her culture. It was a great hands on experience for all. She also, was very interested in getting to know each of her guest. I enjoyed sitting around the dinner table enjoying the meal we prepared. The laughter and friendships made around the table will forever live in my heart.

What an experience! My first time in Aruba and wanting to do things out of the norm for me. And this cooking class with Kari was a chefs kiss. She welcomed all her guest with such warmness. Kari explained in great detail of the dishes, ingredients and teaching new techniques in preparing dishes (there were a few new beginner cookers in the class, so this really helped!) The family setting was a great feeling because we walked in as strangers and walked out as friends. Kari seemed to design this experience to meeting new people all the while having a great time. I highly recommend taking the class, you will not regret it! I’ll definitely be back!

It was my 25th wedding anniversary and I'll try to surprise my wife with a dinner. We got there early at right before 6:00 we had to wait 25 minutes for the other couples to show up and they was rude very nasty and then everything from there was bad the lady really never changed her gloves they just kept going back and forth by time we actually sat down the E it was almost nine 9:00 she stopped doing what she was doing to feed her son it was just a real bad experience and if I had a way out of there I would have left. Was not what I was expecting I was expecting more of a personal not really one-on-one but a really big atmosphere for a group kitchen was really small I thought we was going to be cooking like some real like Caribbean and when I noticed that we was cooking out a pressure cooker I was like done with this and this is really what's not what I was thinking and not worth my money at all.
