This hands-on experience invites you into a quiet traditional workshop, where you will learn the meaning and history of Korean seals and carve one that is uniquely yours.
This experience is handmade by a Korean craft artist and offered in a small group, allowing for personal attention at every step. I will guide you carefully through the carving process, even if you have no prior experience.
Your finished seal can be used as a personal signature or kept as a meaningful souvenir from Korea.
Due to the nature of the craft, this experience has limited availability and is only available in Insadong, where traditional craftsmanship is still part of daily life.

What To Expect
Hello I'm Jeongju Kim. Welcome to my seal carving workshop, where you'll discover the art of creating your own personalized stone seal. This workshop offers more than just beautiful craftsmanship—it's an opportunity to experience the meditative joy of traditional Korean seal carving. I'll guide you through the entire process of creating your own seal, beginning with two distinct carving techniques. You'll learn how to handle the engraving tools properly as we practice making straight lines, circles. Then, I'll help you design your name in a style that perfectly suits. Once you've completed your design, I'll teach you how to carefully carve it . After the carving is finished, you'll experience the satisfaction of applying traditional Korean ink and making your first stamp. Your elegant seal case protect and display your handcrafted seal. This creative process often helps people rediscover the deeper meaning of their names—something we sometimes forget in our busy lives. As a special touch, I'll write a calligraphy message of your choice on a card for you to take home. Your handcrafted seal will serve as a lasting reminder of your time in Seoul, far more meaningful than any thing.

5.00I had to switch between Busan and Seoul to get the best flight option home and had time to explore Seoul. I'm so happy I started my tour day of Seoul with Jeongju Kim's class. My train was late and I was a few minutes late getting to her studio. She was very gracious and understanding that I was running late and even held the class starting for a bit to allow me to get there. The session was myself and 2 other students and it was a blast. The instructions were super straightforward and she worked with you so you had all the tools and knowledge to do it properly. The art district she's in offers plenty of places to have someone make your seal for you, but being able to do it yourself and truly make your mark made it all worth it!

And the group is small enough that everyone was able to easily get one on one guidance. I really enjoyed this and very happy with my beautiful handmade seal souvenir!

5.00Making a traditional Dojang (stone stamp) was a highlight of my trip! It was so rewarding to learn the history behind these personal seals. My instructor, Jeongju, was incredibly kind and patient throughout the entire carving process. It was a great atmosphere—I met several other travelers all trying it for the first time. The experience is meditative and beginner-friendly. I’m already planning to come back to try the white background (Yang-gak) style next time! Highly recommend for a unique, personal souvenir. 🇰🇷✨
