What To Expect
At our first stop, we’ll taste the Sicilian Caponata, a vibrant mix of fried vegetables, mainly aubergines, seasoned with tomato sauce, celery, onion, olives, capers, sugar, and vinegar. With countless variations across the Mediterranean, Caponata is now typically served as a side or appetizer, though since the 18th century it was also enjoyed as a main course.
What better place than the local market to try a fried fish cone? Savor a delicious cone filled with various kinds of freshly caught fish, fried to perfection. Alternatively, there may be another local street food to enjoy, offering a true taste of the market’s lively flavors.

5.00We really loved the experience, it was a fun and exciting introduction to the city. As well as trying amazing local delicacies in different establishments throughout the historic centre, our guide Allegra showed us beautiful monuments, squares and picturesque landmarks and filled us in on some of the city's history and how this is reflected in the local gastronomy. We tried local wine, fried fish, cipollina, arancini, cannoli and granita in some of the city's top spots. Excellent quality food which made a generous full meal, with agreeable strolls in between stops. We can't recommend this tour enough! Thank you!!

5.00Our tour guide was Anja. As it was December and low season, it was a very intimate tour with just three of us. Anja was very knowledgeable, and whenever she didn’t know an answer, she found it for us immediately. She shared so much about the surrounding areas that we truly regretted not staying in Catania longer than two days to properly explore the places she pointed out. It felt like a lovely history lesson as well. The portions were generous, and you definitely won’t be hungry after the tour. I also really appreciated that Anja sat with us, which made it easy to chat and ask questions. My husband and teenage son thoroughly enjoyed the tour, and after this experience, we are definitely planning to return to Catania and stay longer. I highly recommend this tour!
