You might as well call Budapest “Food-a-pest” because the Hungarian capital is buzzing with delicious restaurants, and on this priority access food tour, we'll help you eat like a local, no planning required.
The tour starts at an old synagogue, offering a great introduction to the history of Hungarian cuisine since much of the food is heavily influenced by Jewish culture and tradition.
You'll get the best of both worlds when it comes to the city’s gastronomic scene, from local secrets to high-end spots. First, you’ll try some delicious street food such as traditional Hungarian soup and Lángos, a deep-fried flatbread.
After soaking in the eccentric atmosphere of the city’s party streets, we'll head to fancier spots for a sit-down meal. You’ll try Hungarian classics like nokedli dumplings and Flódni, a Jewish-Hungarian pastry. You’ll also sample alcoholic beverages like Pálinka and sweet wine from Tokaji, Hungary’s famed wine region, or alcohol-free options for sober travellers.

Niki was our tour guide on this 3 hour food tour. She was very knowledgeable, pointing out many historical points along the way. We stopped at 4 restaurants. Each stop we made featured another Hungarian delight. First stop was soup and then we had Longos, Hungarian fried bread with cheese and sour cream. Our third stop was for local chicken paprika and our last stop was sponge cake covered in chocolate sauce and walnuts. Everything was very good. Along the way we also tasted local beers, wine and shots. Niki was attentive to us all, had a great sense of humor and was very interesting. We spent a wonderful 3 hours walking the streets and getting very full! Thanks Niki for providing such a fun afternoon.

We travel a lot and try to book a walking food tour in new cities we visit. It helps us sample the foods the area is known for as well as teaching us about the culture/history of the area. This tour was fantastic! We went to 5 different locations to sample popular food and drinks for Budapest/Hungary. The restaurants were each unique and the atmosphere in each one was welcoming and interesting. The tour started in the daylight and ended after dark and provided an opportunity to explore the city with a local guide. She was more than happy to answer our questions and shared details about life in Budapest.

We enjoyed the food tour with Loura. We especially liked the soup and dessert, which were not the "usual" Hungarian foods that were everywhere in Budapest. We walked around the Jewish Quarter and Deak Ter and learned more about Hungary's history and culture.
