What To Expect

An hour drive heading north from Puerto Escondido to arrive to the National Park of Chacahua (which is the name of the national park and the community) here we will have a small boat ride inside the national park. While we are cruising we will enjoy a beautiful sunset and listen to a full explanation of history, culture, and traditions that symbolizes this Afro-Mexican community. Once the sun sets with eager we wait for the darkness to arrive only to witness an experience of bioluminescence like no other. We give you the option to swim and enjoy the fresh water of the national park while our bodies and water naturally glow in the dark. To wrap up, we once again navigate through the natural mangrove mazes while we observe a sky full of a million stars!

The experience was amazing! We did a horseback ride and from the start the guide was super friendly. He explained everything with a lot of patience, made us feel safe at all times and also took some great pictures. You can tell he loves what he does. Certainly an activity we would repeat. Fully recommended!

Wonderful experience — lots of lovely birds in the lagoon, sunset (and a bonfire) at the beach, and a nighttime swim in the bioluminescent water. Jaziel put on a great trip. Muchas gracias!

We had an amazing time, our tour guide Maury was very knowledgeable and the boat ride with luminescence was amazing! We went to another lagoon where to phenomenon was more pronounced that day and I can’t say it was the wrong choice, we really enjoyed our time!

Unfortunately the trip to Chacahua Lagoon was cancelled by tripadviser 3.5 hrs before its start, that same day. No additional information was coming. I can only assume it was due to lack of participation. A cancellation the day before would have been better to take advantage of the day.

The tour this incredible touched us a starry night appreciating the beautiful moon of October, we could observe the phenomenon of bioluminescence which is an experience that I recommend is unforgettable and magical. The company provided us with all the necessary material and transport to carry out this activity I recommend it 100%

I cannot rate this tour highly enough. There needed to be a minimum number of guests for this tour to run so Maury (tour operator) kept in contact with us and let us know immediately when it was available only a day later. Our guide was Mario and he made the tour extra special, was very funny, spoke good English and very knowledgeable. We were transported in a very comfortable car, Mario offered to stop for us to get snacks and kept us in the loop of how long the journey would take. On the tour we got to experience incredible views of mangroves and the lagoons, lots of birds and even with a thunder and lightening storm and getting drenched, we still had the best time. Mario took us to a great sunset spot and the bioluminescence was incredible! We didn’t think we would see it as the moon cycle wasn’t the correct time but our guide kept looking for a good spot for us and there it was! I would absolutely 100% recommend this tour and company to anyone going to Puerto Escondido. Worth every cent. Muchas gracias to everyone involved.

Really nice tour, definitely recommend! The bioluminescence is impressive and the boat tour in the mangroves as well.
