Chagres National Park
Start at 5am after your picked and taken in an all-terrain vehicle from your hotel to the remote village of San Cristobal. After enjoying a light breakfast, visit a campesino survival agricultural farm in the Chagres National Park. Next, hike for about 2-hours up to Rio Piedras. This area is a Chagres River tributary, where you will get into your rafts and begin to float downstream, (Class II-III rapids) floating into the untouched jungles of the Chagres National Park. From late February through early June you might have to hike all the way to the Chagres River (which takes 3-hours) because Piedras River might be to low to raft on. After lunch, continue rafting further downstream passing an impressive granite canyon with some white water action, and ending just before encountering Madden Lake where you met by a "piragua" (native wooden canoe equipped with outboard motor). Ride in the piragua further downstream to visit an Embera Village at river bank where you will camp.

Breakfast
After breakfast, meet the villagers and learn about their customs, beliefs and legends. These natives migrated to Chagres River banks more than 20 years ago, where they found the same habitat they were so familiar with in the Darien Jungles. The Embera will display their crafts, dances and they'll invite you to their huts to appreciate the constructions and living habits of hut life. Go to nearby areas ,in which you will appreciate their cultural adaptation to the jungle and river and enjoy the ride. At the end of our journey, a "piragua" will take you to the nearest road where a driver will be expecting you and ready to bring you back to civilization, and to your hotel in Panama City around 3pm.

I highly recommend this adventure in Chagres National Park! The guides were incredibly experienced and shared lots of fascinating information about the park and its tropical rainforest. The absolute highlight for me was river rafting down the Chagres River. It was thrilling, full of adrenaline, yet I always felt completely safe thanks to the expert team. If you’re looking for a genuine rainforest adventure that feels authentic and not overly touristy, this is definitely the tour to choose! Isak from Sweden

Raft the Chagres with Javier and his crew and you will not be disappointed. A beautiful river, an experienced guiding team, and plenty of great food along the way. You’ll have the river to yourself and camp under the stars each night. Most importantly, you’ll see firsthand how Adventures Panamá has worked with local communities for the past 30 years of responsible operation. Thanks, Javier!

The most I liked was the conversations with the people from village. I also liked that we could have an overnight, because that's not usual. For the hike in the jungle you need good shoes which can get wet, because you'll have to walk through mood and water. Also I would recommand to take a second pair of shoes for the evening. The river rafting itself was fun. What I didn't like was Javier's attitude, because he can be a very effervescent guide. So I didn't feel comfortable when he was shouting to us during the rafting.
