This was my first experience on this type of informative river cruise. The volunteer docent, Peter S., was excellent. His pace was measured, professional and friendly. I learned alot about Chicago architecture and history.

Excellent docent! He had so much information to convey; I only wish I had recorded it so I could listen to it over-and-over.

Peter S was our docent, who did a great job explaining the architectural characteristics of these several styles seen along the river as well as some historical facts relating to merchandising which relatedto other buildings I knew about elsewhere. I was especially interested to learn that Montgomery Ward, who built at least two buildings along the river, preceded Sears in the catalog business. Here’s a photo of one of his Artdeco buildings, along with a view of the skyline taken-from the turnaround point near the end of the tour.

This was a wonderful tour! Our guide Peter was informative and engaging. He shared a lot of fascinating details about numerous buildings, the architectural styles and stories behind the buildings/architects. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

If you’re a tourist here you must do this tour. So interesting and informational. The perfect blend of history of the city, architecture, and amazing views. Boat was clean and beautiful and our tour guide (I wish I knew his name!) was incredible.

Amazing tour today aboard the First Lady. Our guide was personable, professional and above all, knowledgeable. She did a very good job of telling the history of Chicago through its diverse and stunning architecture, and gave us all a glimpse into the near future for the Riverwalk area. In short, she really knows her subject matter. The boat was clean and the people who visited the bar area seemed pleased although this was not a party atmosphere. I think younger children may grow board but tweens and older should have their interest peaked if they enjoy beautiful buildings or history. I highly recommend this tour.

Jean, our guide was amazing. She was able to keep us engaged and spoke so much on the history and design of each building. The boat was comfortable and we were able to see very well. This was my second tour on the river and I enjoyed it so very much.
