It was cold, and sometimes windy and wet, so we were the only two on the tour but with two guide trainees. NOTE THAT THE CITY HALL PORTION IS OUTSIDE ONLY. That wasn’t clear from the tour title. We also had to pay the modest cost for the ferry from Gamla Stan to the island with the Vasa Museum. Anna, our tour guide was very good. The tour ends at the Vasa Museum and you’ll probably want to stay and see more after the “tour” ends.

Great guided tour of Stockholm with a perfect balance of history and practical insights. We started at City Hall, learning about its architecture, the Three Crowns symbol, and the origins of the city. From the waterfront, we looked over Gamla Stan and Riddarholmen, with clear explanations of how the different islands developed and who lived there. Walking through the Old Town, we explored narrow medieval streets, saw rune stones built into walls, and heard stories about everyday life in the past. At key locations like the main square, cathedral, and Royal Palace, the guide consistently connected places to specific Swedish rulers, which made the history much easier to understand and remember. Highlights included the royal burial church on Riddarholmen, the site of the Stockholm Bloodbath, and the Royal Palace. The tour ended with a ferry to Djurgården, where we visited the Vasa Museum. A big added value was that the guide also shared great recommendations on what else to see in Stockholm after the tour. Very informative, well-paced, and engaging throughout—highly recommended.

  • Really educational tour worth our time in Stockholm.

  • Ana animated our tour

Our tour with Ana of Vasa Museum and Old City 28/08/25 Ana proved to be an exceptional guide. She effortlessly conveyed her enthusiasm for her topic, and shared the depth of her knowledge. She had a light touch and a sense of humour. We particularly liked that she was a keen researcher. For example, when we asked her about a topic she didn’t have an immediate answer to (the positioning of a tall factory chimney in a square of palatial buildings) she looked it up during her break. We not only learned about why the chimney was there, it was the remains of building originally purposed for newspaper publishing, we also learned something of how the publishing industry operated at the time. This might just be our pleasure to know about how things work, but Ana joined in and made it important. The tour was delightful. We would recommend Ana as a guide to anyone thinking of taking a tour around Stockholm. Susie and Tony

If you have a limited amount of time, this is the tour for you. You must be able to walk and wear walking shoes. Our tour guide was charming and knowledgeable. She was engaging and answered all our questions. We walked at a comfortable pace with water breaks. She allowed enough time for us to visit the various stops, but was there for any additional questions or comments that we had. One item that was not clear when we bought the tour tickets, was the fee to ride the ferry over to the Vasa Museum. Not a big deal, but know that we had to purchase the fare. In our unique case, we bought a one way ticket to the island and a one way ticket back. They do offer a senior fare. We only wish we had more time to visit, so much to see.

My husband and I had a great tour with Ana. We started at Stadthuset, then walked through Gamla Stan and ended at the Vasa Museet. Ana started by understanding what we had seen in Stockholm in the previous days so she could build on that knowledge and not use the time to repeat what we already knew. She is a good storyteller and gets her message across well while leaving time for clarifications and questions. The walking tour was a good pace and not too strenuous. She had a good sense of humor and kept track of her pace so that we didn’t fall behind. A walk with Ana is time well spent!

Ana was a delightful guide. She made sure to take time to talk with everyone in the group, making us all feel welcome. The pace she set was comfortable and the history she shared was very interesting. I noticed some other guides around us seemed to be marching their groups through without really engaging them in conversation. Ana wasn’t like that, she was like hanging out with a laid back friend who happened to know a lot about the area. Great tour!

We were so lucky and had our guide (Ileonarda?) to ourselves. She was fantastic- enthusiastic and knowledgeable. She made Stockholm come alive for us. Great start at City Hall and then on to Gamla Town. Lovely ferry over to Djurgarden and the most amazing visit to the Vasa Museum. Thank you.
