• Shared boat and not 30 minutes

  Let me say I have done quite a few tours with Viator and this was definitely the worst of all. We were supposed to be at the pick up point at 4:45pm. The individual who gathered us let us know we had to be in groups of 4 or 5. For some reason, I thought it was going to be just of us. We had to wait in line for a long time to wait for the boats and when they did show up it was definitely not 30 min it was more like 20.

  Slightly underwhelming experience which started with a chaotic organiser gathering the group together for the allocated time slot. We then walked across the bridge to where the gondolas were and at this point realised we were in gondolas with other people. This wasn’t too bad, just not what was expected. Literally zero engagement from the guy in charge of the gondola. Probably better to just save your money and just watch the gondolas going around the canals instead!

  The young lady in line with us as we waited on our Gondala ride put it best.. sh*t show. That is a very fitting description of this experience. First of all, look very carefully at what you are booking. We thought this would be a romantic Gondala ride for my husband and I but it was not. There can be up to 6 people in the Gondala at a time. If you are wanting a more private, romantic experience, you'll need to look and make sure you're booking a private ride I guess (which is what I thought I had booked). The port at which you board the Gondala itself lends to the chaos as it is absolutely packed with people. My husband felt "man handled" as we started to board the Gondala and the Gondolier on the boat sharply barked at me to sit all the way forward on the boat (which was where I was headed anyway) and the man assisting people into the Gondola grabbed my husband to stop him from getting in (until I could get sat down I guess, I dont know). We were with 3 sweet college age girls on our ride which was all well and good but doesn't make for a peaceful, pleasant ride watching an entire photo shoot during the 20 minute or so ride (it was not a full 30 mins which was fine with us, we were ready to get off by then). Just be aware this is probably not the Venice Gondala ride you are picturing in your mind. It's a chaotic boat ride around some overcrowded Venezian canals. If you just want to be able to say you've done it, then this is the bargain boat ride you've been looking for (if you consider $70+ a couple a bargain for a 20 something minute boat ride). If you're looking for a romantic or even peaceful Gondala ride, keep shopping.

  This would have been better if the Gondolier would have shared some Venice history and Gondola history. Would be better to have couples by themselves and not with other couples

  You start out in the main waterway and then you go through a few canals and back out into the main waterway. The boat person doesn’t tell you anything about the history of where you’re going through was disappointed in that.

  They say 30 minutes. In the end it's 20 minutes. The tour is just in small alleys around the start which is promised in the description. The Grand Canal, the bridge of rialto exetera we saw nothing Departure at 16:40 arrival at 17:00 Very disappointed

  Enrico was a great skipper. Great explaining everything. Trip was amazing and he was very proud of his gondola. A unique way to explore the canals and well worth it. Must do experience

  Your experience is solely going to be based on the energy level of your gondolier. It’s definitely a must-do in Venice. i wish I knew the name of our guy… he was a dud!
