Join us at the Oxbow Gun Club, where you and your mates can enjoy a spot of healthy competition shooting clay targets out of the sky against one of New Zealand’s most magnificent backdrops.
Enjoy one-on-one guidance in Clay Bird Shooting from an experienced instructor, ensuring few clays get away alive.
When it comes to firearms, safety is always of the utmost importance. Oxbow prioritises safety first for our Clay Bird Shooting adventure. Not only will you go through a thorough safety briefing and gun safety demonstration, but you will also be provided with high-quality protective gear, including earmuffs, glasses and a shooting vest.
The stand facilitates six shooters per session; each shooter is positioned in their own stand with safety barriers to ensure safe operation at all times.

What To Expect
We can accommodate singles and groups of all sizes for Clay Target Shooting. Our custom-designed compact sporting field is equipped with eight automatic clay target throwers to suit all abilities; it also includes the run-away rabbit across the ground (don’t worry, it’s not the real thing!). For the more experienced shooters or those wanting an extra challenge, we offer the choice of a 25 or 50 Bird ‘Flurry’. We’ll provide the shotguns and protective gear, so all you have to do is ready, aim, fire!

5.00I originally booked to do the clay pigeon shooting experience. But once I arrived at the Oxbow park, hearing and seeing the Jet boat. I couldn't help myself and booked it as well. Im glad I did!! It was one of the most adrenalin rushing experiences I've ever had. It's a must do if you are an adrenalin junking. Had a great time doing the shooting as well. Our tour guide Skinny was fantastic!! Big shout out to Skinny and all the friendly staff at Oxbow. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

5.00Had a really lovely time here. The whole staff were lovely, but I wanted to particularly highlight my experience with the clay targets. I went shooting with Skinny, who was an absolute barrel of laughs but also a phenomenal teacher. Made my whole trip, I had a great time, especially at a really great value. I cannot emphasize enough that Skinny was just an absolute legend, and I would've made a lot more time for Oxbow as a whole if I had done my research beforehand. I very rarely write reviews, but felt it was necessary to share, recommend to all types of visitors.

5.00Such a fantastic experience!! Visited the shooting range with my three teenage boys and we all had a fantastic time. Skinny was the best host. He was so friendly and gave us great instructions so we all had a successful morning. The facilities are great, really well organised and extremely safe. Thanks so much to everyone. Would highly recommend this activity!

5.00My husband and I visited New Zealand for our 1 year anniversary and we had a great time celebrating with adventure. Our instructor Skinny was THE BEST! He showed us expert techniques with a simple explanation and had encouraging and fun energy that had all of us having a great time. I recommend this activity and best if you book Skinny as your guide!
