This was an immersive experience for our small group, where we walked through the grove of cacao trees, gaining an understanding of different species, as well as how adjacent plants and pollination can change the flavor each tree produces. Following that, we participated in each step of taking the pod all the way to chocolate bar for each of us. I now understand just how much effort and expertise it takes to create perfect chocolate. Ecuador has a rich history of growing excellent cacao, and is now positioning itself as a major player in chocolate making. The tour was followed by a delicious lunch prepared in the kitchen and under a shelter beside the cacao trees snd small river. Allison was our guide and she was wonderful throughout, also explaining what we were seeing on the drive to and from the plantation. She shared stories about her family and how Ecuadorians live and their culture. Darwin was our drive and he was fabulous, too.

Great way to spend the day outside of Guayaquil. Alberto did a great job showing us the farm and Tony was an excellent guide as well. We really enjoyed the lunch too. This is a highly educational and fun excursion. And the chocolate that we made was delicious too!!! Bravo!!!!

It was wonderful. Our guide, Antonio Escobar, was very knowledgable and helpful. He is one of our favorite guides. We enjoyed the farm tour guides also. We learned alot. The three course meal was excellent. Everyone made us feel welcome. We would recommend this tour to anyone who asks what they should do in Guayaquil.

Unexpectedly amazing! We had Tony/Antonio as our guide and he was absolutely great. This is a comfortable private tour visiting a family farm. It’s not just cocoa, there are many interesting plants and fruits to try. We chopped off cocoa pods, knocked guava from the tree and plucked citrus fruits. Very hands on. We were guided by the son of the owner of the farm Rody, who lives there. After going through the entire process from tree to chocolate bar, we had a delicious lunch at Rody’s house. If you are looking for a hands on, personal experience this tour is for you. I don’t know how you can visit this city and not do this tour.
