• Tours will run rain or shine (unless closed for safety reasons)
There are mandatory security checks al all entry points to the sites. The wait time time for the security check can be considerable during peak times/seasons and has nothing to do with the ticket line

Terrible guide, bad experience

1.0We were incredibly disappointed by this experience from beginning to end. Arrival at the meeting place was chaotic and the timing of the tour was miscalculated so we spent almost the entire tour time of 2.5 hours in the Colosseum and didn’t head to the Roman Forum until about 15 minutes before the tour was scheduled to end. Since we had other plans to get to, we had to skip the Roman Forum tour and Palatine Hill, which was incredibly disappointing. But worse than all of that was our tour guide, Nicola. His English (for the English-language tour) was nearly impossible to understand (in contrast, this was never an issue with any other guide we’ve had in Italy), he spent most of the time making us look at pictures in a book rather than the Colosseum itself, mismanaged the time poorly, and spoke very unkindly to us — specifically making fun of us and/or trying to stop us when we tried to take pictures in places other than the 2 designated spots he deemed “the best place for pictures.” This tour was, sadly, our worst experience in Italy. Especially disappointing when the 11-year old in our group was so excited to see inside the Colosseum. I suspect it would be a better experience with a different guide but unfortunately, it was a big loss for us. The only reason it gets one star is because we actually did see the Colosseum.
