• Guided tour let down

  Booked a guided tour around the Colosseum and Roman Forum only to be informed a day before the tour that their guide would no longer be allowed entry into the Colosseum to provide the guided tour we paid for! We booked this type of ticket especially for the guide and at a much elevated price than general admission which we ended up with. Due to the short notice of the change of plan we were unable to cancel for a full refund via our booking providers booking.com and any communication with Show Me Italy was ignored via email, online form, WhatsApp and attempted phone calls. Insult to injury was to find numerous tours inside the Colosseum with lathe groups! We have been offered a small token of 20% refund which as yet has still not been paid however would have much preferred to cancel for a full refund had any of our communications been answered. Terrible service, communication and not at all fair compensation (should we actually get it) for the disappointment and breach of contract for the change of itinerary.

  My guide was Tatiana, a Mexican guide who toured us very well, connected with everyone in the group and showed us everything correctly and how we all wanted. I liked how when we chose spanish, they put a latin person, so it could be native and fluent.

  

  

  

  

  

• Last minute changes, disappointed

  Purchased tickets for a guided tour, but a portion of the guided part was canceled (and partially refunded) as the guide wasn’t allowed into the Colosseum. They also pushed our starting time back an hour, then started another half hour late. So, our morning plan/tour didn’t start until late morning and the heat was miserable (we knew it would be hot, so we specifically booked early morning tickets). Our guide was nice but nothing special. The sites were amazing, but I would not purchase this tour again. What we got was not what we were sold. And the change was too late to rebook with anything else.

  It is quite an expensive tour but we happily paid extra for the arena access at the collosseum. Start time was delayed by an hour the evening before which meant we could not keep our lunch booking. But the Viator ap had not changed the start time. Phone calls went unanswered and Viator were also not helpful. We were also told less than 24 hours that our guide could not do the tour inside the colosseum - plenty of other guides were doing tours. No arena access without guide! Total waste of money and last minute information.

  Though we booked guide led tour for both Forum and Coliseum, we were told when we arrived that the guide would not lead us in the Colliseum. I’m not sure why since I saw quite a few tour groups with guides. Our guide was okay. I think he may have been a smoker since he cleared his throat a lot while the microphone was on and we were walking from place to place.

  This is a self guided audio tour. Make sure you give yourself enough time to do all 3 locations at once, or break apart the Colusseum from the other 2 sites. The guide was very informative about the history of the ruins.

  This tour is NOT advertised correctly. It is strictly an audio tour, which must be downloaded on your phone, as well as entrance into the attractions. We did not receive an email until an hour AFTER our reservation to describe what we needed to do. When trying to check in, we just kept being put off to the side as he could not find our reservation. We finally got in over an hour past our expected time. It is a terribly disorganized organization. You would be better off choosing a different tour!

  Absolutely awful. Was supposed to have an 8:30 tour. The day before they changed the time to 10:30. The tour of the Forum was awful the guide was speaking directly to another member of the tour the entire time and did not explain anything to us . The tour guide couldn’t even go into the colosseum with us and lied to us and said the reason was that we would have more time if we went In our own . We were told we would get a 30% refund and 3 weeks later still have not received and they will not return emails

  Terrible experience, very disappointed. Guide was supposed to be English speaking and was not. Was very rude, unprepared. Guides yelling at each other. Told one meeting point and then directed to go stand in another line. I do not recommend Show Me Italy tours.

  Total chaos. Viator sends a voucher, not the actual tickets. You have to meet a separate local vendor nearby to get them. The meeting point was a complete mess with dozens of stranded travelers and only a few confused workers. They forced us to use WhatsApp to get our actual tickets sent over. Luckily I already had ‎WhatsApp downloaded but if you do not cell service would make it extremely difficult to download the app on the spot which would add another layer of difficulty. By the time we received our tickets, we were an hour past our entry time and were locked out of the Colosseum. A manager named Zack promised a refund, but now they are completely ignoring my messages. Save yourself the stress. If you don't need a tour guide, just buy tickets directly at the official entry points.
