  • Rainy waterfall trip!

The driver was very knowledgeable. However, there were two main issues: The (rainy) weather was not conducive to this kind of tour, and there was not one decent bathroom on this 3 hour and 45 minute trip. I appreciate how carefully Chuck drove and how he was prepared with umbrellas....they were hard to work but they helped!

We recently took the Columbia River Gorge and Waterfalls tour from Portland, and it was easily the highlight of our trip! Our guide was incredibly professional, punctual, and full of fascinating facts about the geology, biodiversity, and history of the region. The van was clean and comfortable with large windows for sightseeing.

I had considered renting a car and doing a self-guided tour of the primary stops, but am very glad I went with this tour instead. At the time of tour, cost was $89 (but please tip your guide), and was well worth it. Besides the beauty of all of the stops, I was able to actually enjoy the Gorge sights during the drive, while also: 1) learning a ton about the geology and history of the area, 2) not having to worry about navigating some of the tight, curvy backroads, and 3) not having to worry about parking or road closures. Efficient and well-planned tour. Besides the listed itinerary, our group was also able to visit Shepperd's Dell while making it back to the downtown starting point in 3 hr 45 min - but it never felt we were rushing or dragging at any of the stops. Plenty of time was given for Multnomah Falls. David was a personable and knowledgeable tour guide, and, perhaps just as important, a good driver - even while responding to all of our questions. Clean vehicle, sound was clear though I was in the far back. POTENTIONAL CONS / WARNINGS: I was in a group of 8, which was a perfectly comfortable size given the van, and the characteristics among our specific group. However, I could see the seating situation being a bit tight if the group size was near the max of 12 and / or if there were some more sizeable people included. Also, to get the most out of these stops, I think you should be comfortable with doing just a bit of walking, and likely doing so on some inclines and / or stairs. Maybe that's implicitly understood by anyone reading this, but I'm not sure folks at the very upper end of "Ages 0-99" would get a lot out of this (I'm stereotyping about physical ability here, but for a good cause). This warning isn't specific to this tour, but more for anyone visiting Crown Point or any of the falls - a few of them may be uninspiring if you're spectating from inside or just outside the vehicle.

Our guide Chuck was excellent! He braved the very rainy weather and made the trip memorable. On another positive note, the heavy rains for several days made the waterfalls amazing!

I cannot recommend this tour enough. It was very easy to find the meeting place, super close to our hotel. Our tour guide, Daniel, was so friendly! He is also a very good driver, for those of us prone to motion sickness. Daniel shared all sorts of historical and geological information about the area, making sure to point out such sights as an osprey nest. The length of the tour was perfect, and I felt like I had sufficient time at each stop. The walkways could be slippery, and there are definite elevation changes, but the short distances made it accessible for most people. When we got back to Portland, Daniel spent awhile giving us recommendations about other places to check out in the city. We ended up following his advice for the rest of the evening and had a lovely time. Next time I’m back in Portland, I’ll definitely be booking a tour with these folks again!

We had an amazing time on the Columbia River Gorge waterfalls trip. Our guide was incredibly informative and clearly very knowledgeable about the area. She did an excellent job explaining the history, pointing out interesting details along the way, and making sure everyone in the group was engaged and comfortable throughout the experience. You could tell she genuinely enjoys what she does and takes pride in giving people a great experience. The trip was well organized, relaxing, and a lot of fun. It was absolutely worth the money and the time. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone visiting the area. If you’re looking for a great way to explore and learn more about Mammoth Falls, this is definitely something you should do.
