You will have the opportunity to learn the history of the wine estates and see all the wine cultivation and production process, being at the source of the Porto Wine. The "birthplace" of this unique nectar!
During the tour enjoy 6 wine tastings while admiring the astonishing landscapes and serenity of the Douro Valley, recognized as World Heritage Site by UNESCO, since 2001.
The guided visit to 2 different wine estates with tastings, a complete traditional lunch with Douro wines and a scenic 50 minutes cruise on the Douro River is included on this full package.

Porto
Your expert guide will collect you from your hotel/accommodation or meeting point and will drive you to the renown Douro region. On your way to the Douro, the guide will give you insights regarding the Portuguese history, development and cultural facts of portuguese heritage. Half Way through the drive to the Douro Region we will do a short stop for a coffee break.

The boat cruise that didn’t cruise

5.00Well it started off badly as we got there early only to be told we had to walk all the way back down the hill to register. Nothing of this in the joining instructions. We then found out the boat trip was a coach trip and was having no cruise element to it as it was the river was at capacity due to all the bad weather. However from here it became the gift that kept on giving. It was fantastic value for money 9-7 full day excursion. Given it only mentioned lunch I expected to be back by 2-3pm. I suspect we drank the ticket price in wine and port when compared to restaurant prices. We also had a great lunch. The knowledge Pedro Mendes had was superb. Coupled with the guys at the vineyard. Really enjoyed it and I would have to say this is a must do activity if coming to Porto. I can see why these guys have 10k reviews at the time we were going. The driver was excellent too. We had to negotiate a couple of oncoming traffic issues on narrow single file mountain roads. Also we came across an accident that caused us to have to squeeze past with an inch to spare. Overall fantastic and I want to adopt Antonio the cat who was the star of the show at the lunch venue.

5.00Great experience. Even with weather disruptions everything was handled well. Our tour guide Rita was friendly, funny and great to learn from and travel with. She also gave some heart-felt life advice I didn't expect but needed to hear. It really made my trip to Porto special. My only regret has nothing to do with the tour, but I had an upset stomach the days prior to the tour and I'm so sad I didn't get to fully drown myself with delicious port wine because of it. I'll be back though. Need to do the river cruise when it's not raining ( my fault for picking a rainy season to travel to Porto ). One suggestion to the tour order: We had the amazing opportunity to try 20 and 30 year old ports. I feel this should be the last stop versus the first. Since the tour is in the morning ( and my stomach was recovering ), it was hard to drink all that port first thing and regrettably I had to let some of it go into the spittoon. A few others did the same, likely because they too needed to be careful about their stomachs first thing without much food. I cry thinking about it. However, later on in the day, especially after lunch, my stomach could handle more. If you can switch the order a bit so we can all really enjoy such wonderful vintages.

2.00I sadly had much higher expectations for this trip than the experience provided. This was by FAR the least-personable tour guide I've yet to experience anywhere - never once asked anyone's names, tried to talk to anyone, had any liveliness or enthusiasm for the tour. One other person on the tour phrased it as he was a "project manager" rather than a tour guide. It was also a HUGE let down to replace the boat cruise (due to weather, I understand) with a VERY rushed stop to yet another port wine spot. I wish we had been communicated about the change in advance. I don't believe the replacement sufficed for the amount of money we paid for the tour with the boat cruise. I've always been a huge fan of Viator trips and tours wherever I go, and this one was a sad miss.

5.00Wonderful tour! We thoroughly enjoyed the insights and knowledge that our tour guide, Slimmy, shared with us on both wines and Portuguese history. Slimmy and Carlos, our driver, make a great team. In spite of the historic bad weather causing a cancellation of the river cruise, we feel they added enough entertainment to the tour to provide us with suitable value. Great job guys!
It was raining so we did three winery stops but no river tour. The lunch was excellent!

5.00This was a wonderful tour. Kudos to driver George and tour guide Jeremy for making this a memorable experience. George navigated the rainy steep hills with ease while Jeremy entertained with history, stories and music. The two winery visits were excellent and although the boat ride was cancelled due to weather, the substituted wine and cheese stop was a welcome substitute.

5.00Cannot say enough about Bernardo and this tour! The weather was not cooperative, so we weren’t able to do the boat portion, but honestly it didn’t matter it was so great ( and they added another winery to make up for it!). We learned so much about wine and how to drink it. It was really quite informative. The day ended with an amazing dinner and great conversation. I can’t say enough about Betnardo-he was very informative and really gave us a view into the non tourist life in Portugal. Everyone we came into contact with that day were very kind and welcoming. Our favorite part of our trip to Porto !

5.00Rute and Carlos made the trip to the valley informed and relaxing, our alarm clock didn’t wake us up so ended up missing our 8 am tour, we called to see if we could’ve met them up somewhere but instead the organizers suggested we go on The 9am tour, wich was perfect for us!

4.00Nice experience! Guide and very aggressive driver! Due to the weather, the cruise was changed to a 3rd tasting + cheese platter (very small for 4 people). Unfortunately, this change was not worth it. All in all a beautiful experience!
