Aughnanure Castle

A stronghold of the fearsome O’Flaherty Gaelic lords, the perfectly preserved 15th Century Aughnanure Castel is poised on a rocky outcrop on the Drimneen river and near the shores of Lock Corrib. You will learn about the Tower-Houses typical of this region, and the power and influence held by the Gaelic lords during Medieval times as well as the role played by the Castle during the Historic ‘Cromwellian blockade’ and the unfortunate O’Flaherty’s, as you enjoy a stroll in the impressive setting or choose to enter the Castle itself.

Clifden

One of the most picturesque towns in Ireland with a stunning coastal location at the foot of the Twelve Pins Mountains and located on the Owenglin River where it flows into Clifden Bay. Considered the Capital of the Connemara region this vibrant & cosmopolitan town is brimming with boutiques, gift and souvenir shops, cafes, fine restaurants and lots of quaint Irish pubs. We take a panoramic drive around the town’s main viewpoints & highlights including the ruins of 18th Century Clifden Castle before continuing

Sky Road

Next we join the rugged Wild-Atlantic-Way route from Clifden to enjoy one of the most beautiful areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty as the road rises up to a view point overlooking the whole of Clifden bay as well as the offshore Islands. A wonderful stop to take in some breathtaking Sea views.

Kylemore Abbey & Victorian Walled Garden

One of Ireland’s top tourist attractions, Kylemore Abbey and Gardens estate has a jaw dropping lakeside location set against a backdrop of Connemara’s wooded mountainside. Your guide will tell you about its romantic History & you can enjoy the abbeys magnificent architecture and its 1000-acre grounds which include Ireland’s largest Walled Garden. Wholesome food and delicious home-baking awaits in the Café or Garden Tea House, and you can browse the Craft and Design Shop for unique gifts including Kylemore Abbey Pottery and award-winning chocolates handmade by the Benedictine nuns.

Leenane

Considered Irelands Lake District with a rugged blend of mountain ranges and coastal beauty this area captures the natural characteristic beauty of Connemara. Gaynor's Bar, The Field Bar. Time for one of Ireland's Cozy family friendly Bars for a bit of refreshment! Gaynor's Bar, was used in one of the Iconic Scenes of the powerful movie 'The Field', which your guide can provide the storied details & its place in Irish Mythology. From there we enjoy one of the most scenic drives in Europe as we head towards Killary Fjord.

Killary Fjord

Continuing through one of Ireland's most scenic areas we hug the shores of Lake Corrib, with peaceful views of Islands & Castles as we head further West to Killary Fjord, a deep inlet of the Atlantic Ocean and area of outstanding Natural Beauty. Surrounded by immense mountains & home to Seals, dolphins & whales, we will learn about its wildlife and take in the panoramic views, spot Muscle & Salmon farms & maybe spot a Dolphin or two if your lucky!

One of Ireland’s most photographed castles this magnificent Castle, constructed in 1520 is surrounded on three sides by the waters of Galway bay and had a long history with sieges, Waring Clans and also a more recent role in Ireland’s literary revival from 1924 when the castle became a hub for literary greats, including George Bernard Shaw and W.B. Yeats.

The Burren National Park

This region puts the 'wild' in The Wild-Atlantic-Way and your knowledgeable Guide will explain all the History behind its impressive 'lunar' landscape which was formed millions of years ago when the area was underneath the sea. We stop at some of the most beautiful spots & viewpoints to admire views, a plethora of wildflowers which cover the area, and the flights of the seagulls. Further out, you will sea the Aran Islands from which Aran wool originates, as well as the famous handmade Aran Wool Sweaters produced in many of their little wind swept cottages

Hidden away in the Burren valley, Caherconnell has been in the same family for over 5 generations and a visit there will see an authentic farm experience intimately connected to the Burren where you can see the working sheepdogs demonstrating their skill and enjoy a place of calm amongst the Burren landscape. There is also a 5000 year old fort to discover as well as a café with an array of local delicacies.

Cliffs of Moher

No visit to the West Coast is complete without seeing the Cliffs. Standing over 220 meters high and running for 12km this stunning coastal attraction is a wonderful walk & observatory for the thousands of seabirds who make it their home. The first observatory was constructed here in 1835 and today this site attracts over 1.5 million visitors annually because of its incredible views of the twelve Bens, the Aran Islands and the Atlantic Ocean. There is a wonderful walkway along the cliffs to follow, and we also take time for the Visitor Center

The name Sneem, means 'the knot' that ties together the Ring of Kerry. The village is divided into two squares, North Square and South Square, by the Sneem River, giving it a unique character.
