We leave early for a fun, safe, efficient full-day adventure focused entirely on Cradle Mountain. No overnight stay needed — just bring your day pack.
Enjoy a stunning drive through Tasmania’s heart: charming towns, farmland, forest, mountains, lakes and rivers. You’ll see more of the island in one day than most do in a week — with thoughtful commentary and plenty of quiet time to take it all in.
At Cradle Mountain, we guide you inside the National Park for up to 5 hours — perfect for hiking, photographing, or simply breathing in the alpine magic.
We depart Hobart at 6am and return by 9pm.

What To Expect
Cradle Mountain
Our guests will enjoy up to five hours inside Cradle Mountain-Lake St. Clair National Park - at the Cradle Mountain / Dove Lake end. This time will go quickly as either independently, or with your Driver/Guide, you will walk the trails, hike up to high lookouts, walk around Dove Lake, visit the Interpretation Centre or just sit down and soak up the natural beauty (or a comfy chair by the fire at Cradle Mountain Lodge.) This "Big Day Out" is for lovers of nature who want to access somewhere remote but without the costs and extra packing associated with accommodation, overnight stays.
we stop in delightful Deloraine for breakfast at Mumma Buzz cafe - a fantastic menu, a beautiful country town cafe. A good breakfast here at 9am will power you through the day.

5.00I couldn’t recommend this tour anymore! Definitely the highlight of our trip to Tassie. Sam was a great tour guide and Cradle Mountain is amazing. If you’re able to, do the hike up to Marion’s Lookout, it’s a bit of an undertaking but the views are spectacular! If not, it’s still so beautiful around the lake. We saw an echidna and wombats in the wild which was amazing! Thanks a million Sam!

5.00Sam is one of the best tour guides you can find in Tassie. Professional, positive attitude and exceptional service. Extraordinary circumstance when the tour bus battery died. Sam was very gracious and offered us tea/coffee from his home while we waited for its replacement. Sam paid for our breakfast and he provided more time at Cradle Mountain to make up for the delay. Cradle mountain itself is an absolute must for anybody who loves nature and trails.

5.00We joined the Cradle Mountain tour with Sam and had an excellent experience. The weather changed a few times during the day, but Sam was well prepared and handled everything smoothly. Some guests weren’t dressed warmly enough, and he kindly lent jackets to them. His instructions were always clear, and he had good backup plans - the cafe which we originally was supposed to go to had a power outage but Sam promptly reacted to it and arranged with the other cafe (with excellent food too!) beforehand so that we could be on schedule. For dinner, he did the same and took our orders in advance - highly efficient! +++ Sam was attentive throughout the day and ensured everyone was comfortable . We also appreciated the small local snack he offered — what nice touch it was! Sam is very knowledgeable and shared information at a good pace. He was also responsive on text and punctual. Something that stood out: my husband left his Australian hat in the vehicle. Sam found it, messaged us, and later delivered it to our hotel even though he didn’t have to. We really appreciated that extra effort. Overall, we felt well looked after from start to finish. Highly recommend this tour and Sam as a guide.

5.00We really recommend this excursion. Sam takes care of all the logistics and makes sure everything goes smoothly. Visiting Cradle Mountain in a single day A/R allows you to see another aspect of Tasmania. We were lucky with the weather, because the views wouldn’t always be so spectacular, but Sam makes sure the whole group has fun.

5.00Absolutely LOVED this trip! Sam was amazing - he gave us a beautiful, informative, adventure that was filled with short stops in quaint villages. I climbed to the top of Marion's lookout - this was my first hike ever (and i'm 56!).. how exhilarating! I did it!!! What a feat - I am proud of myself and the reward was a spectacular view in cool, crisp air, with new friends. Waterfalls, wombats and wallabies greeted us as we were returning down the mountain. I did 5 more tours across Tasmania and New Zealand after this one and THIS TOUR WAS MY FAVOURITE. THANK YOU, SAM!

5.00I've traveled abroad 23 times and taken many tours, but Sam was the best tour guide. He had great hospitality, he cared about all the participants and suggested changing seats. He may have found the spirit of hospitality in Japan because he has studied there. It's a long way from Hobart to Cradle Mountain, but I took a decent break and didn't feel far at all. The weather was fine on the day, you could enjoy the wonderful scenery, and I strongly recommend it to everyone.

If you're based in Hobart on your travels but curious about seeing a bit of the rest of Tassie while getting in some hiking or walking - this day trip is for you.

5.00This was a great experience for me. I was in Tasmania for the first time and decided to explore the areas in and around Hobart. However, as I love nature, I couldn’t miss out on Cradle Mountain. This day tour allowed me to enjoy a beautiful afternoon of trekking while being able to return to Hobart in the evening. Sam, our guide, took great care of us. He took us to lovely local businesses to enjoy delicious food and shared a lot of details about Cradle Mountain and the nearby areas.
