Cu Chi Tunnels
We’ll pick you up at your Ho Chi Minh City hotel in the early morning, and you’ll travel with your English-speaking guide to the Cu Chi tunnels. The drive is around 60 km. At Cu Chi, you’ll be shown a documentary film about the tunnels and learn how the locals made bamboo traps, rice paper, and rice wine. You’ll then have the opportunity to explore the web of underground tunnels dug by Vietnamese resistance fighters.
My Tho
After exploring the tunnels, we’ll drive to My Tho. This is one of the provinces that comprise the Mekong Delta area. We’ll cruise by boat along the upper Mekong through a region with islands named after 4 animals that appear in Buddhist writings – Dragon, Unicorn, Phoenix, and Turtle. On this part of the tour, you’ll observe some of the activities of regional Vietnamese daily life and appreciate how life here depends on the River. We’ll then take you on a trip by rowboat along the small waterways. You’ll see the agricultural richness of the delta region in its fruit orchards, coconut groves, and bee-keeping farms. We’ll stop so you can enjoy honey tea, seasonal fruit, fresh coconut candy, and southern Vietnamese folk music. At the end of our tour, we’ll drive back to Ho Chi Minh City and drop you off at your hotel at around 18:00.

This was the second time I went to the Cu Chi tunnels - that's how much of a must do this tour is. Our guide, Toan, was very knowledgeable and gave us the history of the country and significance of the tunnels. He made it very interesting and answered all of our questions. As an educator, I really appreciated the context of understanding where I was and not just seeing it as a tourist destination. The Mekong Delta portion of the tour is very beautiful though it makes for a long day. Toan was an attentive guide, making sure that we didn't overly stay in areas of the tour that as a group we weren't interested in. What could have been seen as a "tourist trap" was explained in a lovely way as an ecosystem of community that I don't think I've ever heard. It made me see how important tours like this could be not just for those of us that take them but for the communities they occur in. The whole day was an inspiring story of ingenuity and how much freedom is worth sacrificing for and how important it is to keep building community. I was very grateful for the tour but also for that reminder.

It was a beautifully spent day in Vietnam, full of unforgettable experiences. We made several stops to enjoy local drinks and regional specialties. At the end, we took a small boat ride, which was also a very lovely experience. Thanks for everything Kim.

It was a wonderful tour. Our family with 2 little children (7 years and 2.5 year old) did this tour with Kim. She was very helpful and understanding about our needs and made accomodation to help us. The tour can be a little hectic but it is still enjoyable. It was very hot and humid, so be sure to hydrate yourself continuously.

This was a very interesting day learning about the history of the Vietnam War and the ingenuity of the Vietnamese soldiers. The tunnels were fascinating. A delicious lunch followed then we were onto the Mekong delta to get a taste of the simpler side of Vietnamese life. Overall a very enjoyable day.

I went on this trip as a solo passenger. I was part of a small group of 6. From the moment I booked the level of communication was spot on telling me what time I would be collected.. what was involved and things I may consider bringing with me. The 6 seater vehicle arrived on time and was extremely comfortable and had adjustable reclining seats. Our tour guide was a lady called Ni. She was extremely engaging and also entertaining. She just seemed to fit this group of 6 perfectly.. often referring to us as her family. She taught as facts on Vietnamese life and Vietnamese people. She even taught us a little Vietnamese language. We of course learned more facts about the war and we were given reference points like the war museum where we could go to learn more. Throughout the trip we were given water, we stopped for a nourishing lunch which introduced up to new fruits.. we listened to Vietnamese singers singing short songs during a short meal break, we had the chance to sample an alcoholic beverage that had a snake in it.. this trip just about had a little of everything.. not to mention the riverboat short trip and very convenient toilet breaks on the way Obviously this trip is excellent value for money. I certainly feel that I got more than I was expecting and perhaps more than I paid for. The key today however was Ni.. I can't thank her enough. You made us into a group where we could all engage with each other and it felt comfortable. Especially as we had 2 groups of couples and 2 solo travellers. I highly recommend this trip as an absolutely must do when visiting Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).
