Cu Chi Tunnels and Mekong Delta One Day is a small group tour that allows you to avoid the crowded touristy bus. Group size max of 12 passengers. We will pick-up at your hotel in districts 1, 3, and 4.

What To Expect

Cu Chi Tunnels

We’ll pick you up at your Ho Chi Minh City hotel in the early morning, and you’ll travel with your English-speaking guide to the Cu Chi tunnels. The drive is around 60 km. At Cu Chi, you’ll be shown a documentary film about the tunnels and learn how the locals made bamboo traps, rice paper, and rice wine. You’ll then have the opportunity to explore the web of underground tunnels dug by Vietnamese resistance fighters.

My Tho

After exploring the tunnels, we’ll drive to My Tho. This is one of the provinces that comprise the Mekong Delta area. We’ll cruise by boat along the upper Mekong through a region with islands named after 4 animals that appear in Buddhist writings – Dragon, Unicorn, Phoenix, and Turtle. On this part of the tour, you’ll observe some of the activities of regional Vietnamese daily life and appreciate how life here depends on the River. We’ll then take you on a trip by rowboat along the small waterways. You’ll see the agricultural richness of the delta region in its fruit orchards, coconut groves, and bee-keeping farms. We’ll stop so you can enjoy honey tea, seasonal fruit, fresh coconut candy, and southern Vietnamese folk music. At the end of our tour, we’ll drive back to Ho Chi Minh City and drop you off at your hotel at around 18:00.

It was a very touristy day trip, but quite nice. First we went to Cu Chi tunnels, where we had a very general explanation of the history, walked around, saw some entrances and traps and then went to a "tourist tunnel", which was made specifically for tourists. It was fun. Later we had an okay lunch and headed to Mekong delta. I expected a bit more of boat ride but it was still fine. They showed us around the souvenir shops on one of the islands as well as Vietnamese music show (for tips of course) and finally we had a boat ride for like 15-20 minutes. The boatmen also asked for tips. But overall it was a nice day trip.

The tunnels were cool to see but we would have liked to spend a bit more time there. The Mekong Delta felt a little unnecessary given that it was so far away (2hours). Overall the tour was good but has potential for improvement.

The guide (Tu) was so friendly and wonderful. He had a lot of great knowledge and was very organized. I can't imagine a better guide or overall experience. It was fantastic!
