Cu Chi Tunnels
We’ll pick you up at your Ho Chi Minh City hotel in the early morning, and you’ll travel with your English-speaking guide to the Cu Chi tunnels. The drive is around 60 km. At Cu Chi, you’ll be shown a documentary film about the tunnels and learn how the locals made bamboo traps, rice paper, and rice wine. You’ll then have the opportunity to explore the web of underground tunnels dug by Vietnamese resistance fighters.
My Tho
After exploring the tunnels, we’ll drive to My Tho. This is one of the provinces that comprise the Mekong Delta area. We’ll cruise by boat along the upper Mekong through a region with islands named after 4 animals that appear in Buddhist writings – Dragon, Unicorn, Phoenix, and Turtle. On this part of the tour, you’ll observe some of the activities of regional Vietnamese daily life and appreciate how life here depends on the River. We’ll then take you on a trip by rowboat along the small waterways. You’ll see the agricultural richness of the delta region in its fruit orchards, coconut groves, and bee-keeping farms. We’ll stop so you can enjoy honey tea, seasonal fruit, fresh coconut candy, and southern Vietnamese folk music. At the end of our tour, we’ll drive back to Ho Chi Minh City and drop you off at your hotel at around 18:00.

This was a very interesting day learning about the history of the Vietnam War and the ingenuity of the Vietnamese soldiers. The tunnels were fascinating. A delicious lunch followed then we were onto the Mekong delta to get a taste of the simpler side of Vietnamese life. Overall a very enjoyable day.

I went on this trip as a solo passenger. I was part of a small group of 6. From the moment I booked the level of communication was spot on telling me what time I would be collected.. what was involved and things I may consider bringing with me. The 6 seater vehicle arrived on time and was extremely comfortable and had adjustable reclining seats. Our tour guide was a lady called Ni. She was extremely engaging and also entertaining. She just seemed to fit this group of 6 perfectly.. often referring to us as her family. She taught as facts on Vietnamese life and Vietnamese people. She even taught us a little Vietnamese language. We of course learned more facts about the war and we were given reference points like the war museum where we could go to learn more. Throughout the trip we were given water, we stopped for a nourishing lunch which introduced up to new fruits.. we listened to Vietnamese singers singing short songs during a short meal break, we had the chance to sample an alcoholic beverage that had a snake in it.. this trip just about had a little of everything.. not to mention the riverboat short trip and very convenient toilet breaks on the way Obviously this trip is excellent value for money. I certainly feel that I got more than I was expecting and perhaps more than I paid for. The key today however was Ni.. I can't thank her enough. You made us into a group where we could all engage with each other and it felt comfortable. Especially as we had 2 groups of couples and 2 solo travellers. I highly recommend this trip as an absolutely must do when visiting Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).

Picked up on time and kept well informed during the trip. Tour guide Mathew had good English and had great knowledge. Both places definitely worth a visit.

Our guide Mathew was fantastic, very passionate and knowledgeable about the history of the tunnels and village life in the Mekong delta. Make sure you take the opportunity to crawl through the tunnel and drape a python around your shoulders in the village.

We had a wonderful day with Emily, who is a cheerful and very kind guide. She took great care to explain many details to us, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The Cu Chi Tunnels were a lot of fun, especially since we had the chance to go inside them (as long as you’re not claustrophobic!). We also visited several interesting places, such as a lacquer workshop and a coconut candy factory. The boat ride along the canals of the Mekong Delta was pleasant, although a bit short (it lasted no more than 15 minutes). Overall, we had a great time. Thank you Emily!

Emily was phenomenal, and this was such a great tour. We really enjoyed learning about the Vietnam war, seeing the complexity of the tunnels and gaining an insight into how resilient and creative the Vietnamese were during the war. It was also great to visit the Mekong Delta, and gain an insight into Vietnamese culture. I would highly recommend the tour; really great value for money too!

Very interesting tour with a great guide- Emily! The tunnels were so interesting to learn about and actually experience. And then the other activities were enjoyable with a boat ride and fruit tastings.

Max was the most incredible tour guide! He is so knowledgeable and engaging. He constantly informed us of all the history and politics, surrounding this tour and its areas covered. The tour itself, however, is very long, with 6 of the 11 hours spent driving to each location. I think we underestimated the distance! A lovely little surprise stop was the handicapped and handicrafts centre where those who have been affected by Agent Orange, work and create beautiful art with egg and seas shells. We bought some lovely art, with proceeds going to support the business and those affected since the Vietnam war. The Cu Chi tunnels are interesting, having visited the War Remnants Museum the previous day. I would definitely advise to do this, first. However, it was more touristy and not quite what we expected but, nonetheless, still very interesting. The Mekong Delta was lovely. It was nice being able to go on each of the boats and experience local singers performing, a taste of the fruit and snake wine! Try, if you dare! I would definitely recommended tasting the sweet treats and purchasing the matcha and nuts snack bars - they are delicious! It was a shame that we didn’t get to experience the boat and this area for longer. Overall, the trip was really good, and great way to tick off 2 things in one day. Max, for us, was the highlight. If it weren’t for his expertise and enthusiasm, it wouldn’t have been as good as it was. Thank you, Max!!!
