Chinatown
The experience starts off with an exploration of Chinatown where you will get to soak in the sights of the Chinatown neighbourhood. Stories will be shared of it's history capturing the struggles of early Chinese immigrants, their trials and tribulations of making ends meet in a rough neighbourhood filled with vices like opium, gambling, prostitution, and death. These buildings still stand today. Old images will be shown where you will see the quick transformation of Singapore's development from the past to the present day. We will also be visiting a hawker centre and get to sample locally popular Singapore Chinese street food cuisines, and at the same time experience the local way of life that has been around for the past decades.
Little India
In Little India, you will be brought around the area where the vibrancy of colour from street stalls selling fresh fruit & vegetables, flower garland markets, traditional clothing stores, and incense shops will charm your senses. It is due to these trades and other opportunities that had inspired the early Indian community to move from the original Little India near the old seafront, up here where water buffalos used to roam the swampy area. We will be visiting a hawker market here and get to sample a variety of Pakistani, North Indian & Indian Muslim street food cuisines, and experience the exciting vibrancy of the Indian community having their daily meals here.

This was the best food tour I have ever been on, and I've done food tours in at least 40 countries. Our guide Gerry was excellent. He provided drinks at every stop, with choices as to what we would like; most food tours don't do that. At the Chinese market building, he kept going to pick up more and more food; we had so many different things to try. And the tour included the perfect mix of history to food stops. I also appreciated that we took public transit to get around and Gerry showed us how to use the metro and buses. Gerry was a fantastic guide and this tour was 11 out of 10 stars!

I had a wonderful experience on this small-group tour. It was a nice blend of cultural insight and food. The food was amazing, offering a variety of local flavors. Gerry, our tour leader, was outstanding. He was engaging and knowledgeable, making everyone feel welcome from the start. If you want a fun and informative way to explore Singapore’s culture and food, I highly recommend this tour.

We have done food tours in many countries and this tour was the best ever. Gerry was an excellent guide and provided an experience that was memorable, including history, current culture and, of course, food. He was a wealth of interesting information and on top of that just an all round nice guy. There were only 3 of us on the tour so it was more like spending several hours with friends. It was relaxed - we never felt rushed and got to do a nice amount of walking, travel on the MRT and even experienced a local bus ride. Visiting the different neighborhoods was a great experience and we can't wait to go back to Singapore again!

Had a great day with Gerry touring and learning about Singapore. We were first time visitors so this was an excellent way to explore the city. The food was wonderful and Gerry’s enthusiasm and personality made the tour so enjoyable. Besides the food and culture Gerry also showed us how to manage the metro and bus systems to get around. I would highly recommend this tour, especially for first timers to Singapore.

The main ethnic neighbourhoods in Singapore are Kampong Glam (Arabic), and Chinatown (Chinese), both rich in history, culture and gastronomy. Both offer a mix of ancient temples, street markets, traditional restaurants and the historic Chinatown Heritage. Sincerely they clash a little with the fame of Singapore, a clean city par excellence and progress. Chaotic atmosphere, colorful and rich in red lanterns, which blends the ancient with the modern. Ideal places to sample traditional food at affordable prices.

The food was both amazing and plentiful, and Gerry was an excellent guide: well organized, friendly, entertaining and flexible. We got to learn a bit about the history of the city as well. It was everything I was hoping for!
