Cruise Terminal Le Havre
Your journey begins with a seamless pick-up in Le Havre, where an experienced guide will meet you at the cruise port or your hotel. Le Havre, strategically located on the Normandy coast, played a crucial role during World War II as a vital logistical hub for the Allied forces during the planning and execution of the D-Day invasion. As you depart from Le Havre, your guide will provide a brief introduction to the region’s significance and the heroic efforts of the Allied troops who fought to liberate Europe from Nazi occupation. The drive to the first destination sets the stage for the profound historical experience that awaits at the D-Day Landing sites.
Cimetiere Militaire Allemand de La Cambe
At the German Cemetery, a distinct narrative of the D-Day events awaits you. Set against tranquil surroundings, this solemn site commemorates the sacrifices made by all parties involved in the conflict. With rows of meticulously placed tombstones, it stands as a solemn testament to the profound cost of war.

This was the highlight of our trip. Sam was an exceptional guide, with an impressive depth of knowledge. He brought the history of the Normandy beaches to life, sharing key events leading up to the D-Day Landings and giving us a much richer understanding of their significance. We were also pleasantly surprised by the thoughtful touches along the way, including a delicious gluten-free lunch that was provided and some local cider — details that made the experience even more enjoyable.

Excellent tour of the American Cemetery and several WWII-related sites in/around Normandy. Our tour guide, Sam, provided excellent, timely and well-paced commentary on the 1.5 hour drive to Normandy. He is a professor at the Sorbonne in Paris and his experience and professionalism were second to none. We stopped halfway their for a bathroom break and leg stretch. First stop was the cemetery (2.5 hrs) followed by a stop at the Overlord museum (30 min) before heading to Omaha Beach for lunch (1 hr). Lunch was a ham and cheese baguette, chips, water, desert. After lunch we drove to Pointe du Hoc (1 hr) to see where the rangers scaled the cliffs and neutralized Nazi gun emplacements. Our last stop was a German cemetery (30 min).

Brand new bus! We got an excellent guide from UAE who was the easiest to understand of any guide we had, was very interesting, and knew American history better than us, and was very fair in his explanations. Shout out to Ash. He had our bus go to the American cemetery first and avoid delays and the traffic jam later in the day. I was pleased they furnished a lunch for us. I would suggest they allow more time at American cemetery and visitors center and less time at the other stops especially the German cemetery. We had no time left to spend at the visitor center

Ash and Daniel were super as our guide and driver! They met the cruise ship’s schedule perfectly. Ash shared history, facts and stories to enhance the D-Day experience in Normandy. He was knowledgeable and personable. The American Cemetery, Omaha Beach and Pont du Hoc, as well as the German cemetery are incredible places of the horrors of war, remembrance and hope. This tour is highly recommended!
