Donglianhua Village

Once an important post station on the Ancient Tea Horse Road, the village preserves a large number of Hui-style ancient buildings. Most of these residences are in a quadrangle layout, with exquisite wood carvings and brick carvings in the courtyards. The themes include flowers, birds, and beasts, as well as geometric patterns reflecting Islamic culture, making it a "living museum of Hui architecture". Wandering through the village, you can also see elderly people drying beef jerky at the alley entrances and children playing under ancient trees, filled with an original ecological atmosphere of life.

Visit Du Wenxiu Mansion and Tomb. Learn about the Muslim Hui uprising during the Qing Dynasty. Dali Municipal Museum was initially known as the Grand Marshal’s Mansion, serving as the residence of Du Wenxiu (1827-1872), who led the Hui ethnic minority revolt against the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) government in 1856. Du conquered Dali and became Marshal of the military forces. However, after his downfall in 1872, the mansion was abandoned and subsequently reconstructed in 1884. After extensive renovations by the government, the site was reopened as a museum in 1986 which holds “Du Wenxiu’s Uprising Exhibition.”
