A diverse range well knows Kartli region of cultural sites, including several historical, cultural, and landscapes. Since the first half of the III millennium BC, the area dates from classical to medieval, including and altered several times. The region was the home of gods and their earthly embodiment – priests, chiefs, and kings. Every layer of the ground keeps a memory of epochs. The region was standing over the crossroads of cultures. The significance of this arterial road was connecting east and west. It’ rocky road still preserves a clear trace of wheeled transport moving here over centuries. The region was, from time to time, ruled by Mithraism or Zoroastrianism. Sovereign priests performed pagan rituals here. On this altar, they offered sacrifice, glorified female divinity, lighted holly fire. To be continued during the tour.

Started out tour at the metro and went to the awesome cave town that dated back to the third century b.c and it had great scenery and dogs too. Afterwards we went to Gori and had lunch and went to the Stalin museum which had alot of history and was great. We then went to a monastery which was my favorite and beautiful in another town and it was cool seeing the church getting ready for Easter and our guide Nini gave us explanations of everything along the way aswell in great fashion and we got to every destination safe due to our driver Gabriel. Each admission cost about 15 Gerogian lira so it was quite cheap and each destination was not that long but great enough time to experience it to the fullest.

Great day trip to see the caves, Stalin Museum and 20th century Georgian Orthodox Churches. We especially loved the guided tour of the Stalin Museum by our guide Tako. She was knowledgeable and added important commentary that the museum did not address on Stalins life and rule.

Fantastic day exploring different facets of Georgian history, which our guide Nicholas (Tota) brought to life for us in rich detail. Also rich: the massive feast for lunch. Great value for the many places you are able to explore, at a relaxed pace.
