The Day Tour to South Plaza Island departs from Itabaca Canal, the sailing is about one hour and forty five minutes, this island is located to the East of Santa Cruz Island. First you will visit Punta Carrión, where snorkel take place, which is just five minutes away from pier of Itabaca Canal, here you may spot white tip sharks, variety of fishes, sea turtles, rays, Galapagos sharks and many other marine wildlife. In South Plaza Island, which is partner of North Plaza Island, both create a turquoise water canal that contrast with the red natural carpet (sesuvium) and cactus that the island have as breathtaking landscape; here you you will be greeted by sea lions, and expect to spot land iguanas, marine iguanas, sea lions, Galapagos lizard and finches, also variety of sea birds fishing and flying really close to the cliff of this island like swallow-tailed gull, pelicans and Nazca boobies.

Canal de Itabaca

After a fifty minute drive to Itabaca Canal, you will board the yacht in groups. Once in the yacht, safety instructions will be explained.

Definitely recommend this company. Asked them to arrange numerous day trips while in Galapagos which they did brilliantly. Normally make my own travel arrangements but so glad I used Galapagos A La Carte. Loved the attention to detail and they made all the connections so easy. Looks like a great hotel on Sana Cruz as well. Big thanks - great holiday

We could spend only two nights on Galapagos, and Byron from Galapagos a la Carte proposed a program that fit our schedule and (relaxed) goals very well and organized the whole trip seamlessly. Both guides Diego and Fernando were knowledgeable and visibly cared about the wildlife. Thank you!

There are so many travel agencies to work with in Puerto Ayora. The Santa Fe agency was recommended by our hotel and we arranged a day trip to South Plaza Island. Although slightly more expensive than other tours ($195/person) it was well worth it. We were assigned a wonderful guide, Diego, for our small group of 4 English speaking travellers. From the quality of the yacht, the staff, the overall organization, we felt like we were well taken from the moment we signed on. Only regret? We couldn't have done a couple of additional tours! Well done, Galapagos a la carte!
