Our Diamond Circle tour from Akureyri visits many incredible natural wonders of North Iceland in one day - this diverse region contain many hidden gems as well as more well known delights.

We visit the stunning waterfalls of the area. First up is the elegant Godafoss or waterfall of the gods. Dettifoss on other hand is pure raw power, Europe's most powerful waterfall.

We take you to Lake Mývatn and Námaskaro geothermal area, where the influence of volcanic activity on the region's landscape. Boiling mud-pools, hot springs, craters and the smell of sulfur abound.

We also make a stop at Asbyrgi canyon, where a small forest and lake sit in the heart of a remarkable horse-shoe shaped canyon. Sheer cliffs hover in all directions.

We will visit Husavik, one of Iceland's most beautiful villages. Admire the charming harbor and beautiful church in the town center.

Godafoss

From Akureyri, we'll drive for about 30 min to our first stop, which is to the beautiful waterfall called Godafoss. View the falls from several viewpoints and walk the trail for the perfect photo opportunity.

Lake Myvatn

Drive around the Lake Myvatn area, which has a unique landscape from the best viewing point. Make a short photo stop which overlooks Lake Mývatn. Take in all the majesty of this unique landscape. Dozens of craters dot the landscape, the results of ancient volcanic eruptions.

Picked up as promised and on time. Dropped us off in time to catch the ship. The your in general was good. We specificslky requested vegetarian sandwich at booking as my wife is a vegetarian. We requested this at lunch time only to be told there’s only chicken sandwiches!! There were no other places to buy this until we returned back to the shop at 17:30. When I raised this issue with the company as I booked with Viator I received another irresponsible & insenstivd messsgd without acknowledgment of mistake ‘’ Regrettably, the special requirements provided on the booking platform may not be sufficient to accommodate this request. It is crucial to directly contact us, the operator, for such specific requirements’’. This was not mentioned on visitor not bus travel Iceland. Please find some other tour operator who cares to do this tour!!!

I gave this tour only 3 stars because we did not do it. We called several days ahead and told the tour company that our Viking boat docked at 9 AM and they assured us the tour bus would wait until 9:30. We walked off the boat at 9:10 and found the bus area at 9:15 and our tour bus had already left. Luckily another tour of the similar sights but in a shorter version was booked for another cruise ship and we tagged along with them. I was told we would get reimbursed for the difference (lower cost) but so far we have not seen it. It upset us we were told they would wait and didn’t. The 3 stars are for the shorter tour. Our bus tour guide Omar was helpful and a good guide. I would be wary of booking with this company

After a rough start (we had trouble finding the tour operator, we highly reccomend that you give better directions on your emails) we had an excellent time, the places we visited are beautiful and the guide did an excellent job, great explanations and courteous service.
