My friend and i thoroughly enjoyed this tour of Matera and learning about the history and importance of this charming gem of a town in South Italy. It was like stepping back in time and was an amazing way to spend our morning. We highly recommend this tour and Matera

Extremely authentic Tour Guide. He was born in this area, and his grandparentshe were part of the 1950s evacuation. He took us through several neighborhoods and helped us understand the historical significance. Plus, he was funny!

We spent 15 days in and round the Adriatic and went on 9 tours while there. The tour of Matera by RENATO was by far the most exceptional tour of all. One of the best tours we have ever been on. A wonderful experience of learning about Matera mixed with his own family history made for a great day. Humorous stories mixed in wiht the history made it a delight. 5 Stars for Reanto and his tour.

The guide and all other participants were at the meeting point on time. We walked around and received lots of great information about how it was to live in Matera from 5000 years ago to 30 years ago. A casual and fun 2 - 2 1/2 hours. There were even a couple of unexpected stops. I won't ruin the surprise. Gaetano was knowledgeable with a sense of humor. We would definitely recommend this tour.

The tour is highly tecommended, and informative. Our guide was great and has deep roots to the town. Dont take this tour if your looking to see churches or cathedrals. Its all about other history, and that was great. Two thumbs up

We had a wonderful private tour with Gaetano, who was the perfect guide. He concentrated on the history of Matera, and was extremely knowledgeable. We learnt so much about Matera, which really made our visit more enjoyable in the following days in Matera. Gaetano spoke excellent English, made the tour fun, and we were sad when it ended, despite Gaetano already showing us extra sights. An absolutely brilliant experience in an absolutely fascinating place.
