We came to Perth in search of the quokkas on Rottnest island. The seas were active on the Rottnest Express where we boarded on Elizabeth Quay and we arrived without any hiccups. We had already booked the island tour where we were looking forward to seeing the fury animals and had time to go for a short hop on hop off tour around the island to see the amazing beaches. Unfortunately there were a lot of delays along the way with man many delays, overcrowded in all stops with people wanting to get on and off and apparently they were short of buses or drivers which caused delays to go around the island. There were many people who needed assistance to get on the bus some having mobility requirements and therefore the bus driver had to place safety materials in front of the door and had to manually attach things to the bus to board some passengers. This must have been one of those days but when we finally arrived back at the central location to go on the tour to see the quokkas it was 15 mins late and all of us missed the bus. There were a few others also but they were unable to provide another bus or even arrange a quick transport to where that tour bus would be and we had asked for the refund which fell on deaf ears as apparently it was arranged by a third party and they said to get in touch with them so we contacted the operator who said it needs to refunded by Rottnest island. Well a lessen learnt I suppose. Rottnest did say that they could provide a credit next time we visit however we were from Sydney. Thanks but a bit out of the way. NB we managed to see a couple up close outside the souvenir shop at least

The bus tour with Eli and Larry was very good. Eli was very knowledgeable about the entire island and it's flora and fauna, also entertaining. I would suggest that earlier notification of tour time for the bus would be better so one could plan the rest of ones day better. We only got it the day before.Fee was fine. Fremantle Doctor in fine mettle.

Our tour guide Sophia and driver Cos made our bus tour comfortable, informative and fun. Sophia's extensive knowledge related to Rottnest Island is impressive. She delivers the information with the ease of a great teacher teaching a cptivating field trip lesson. She is welcoming, easy to talk to with a voice and delivery that is a pleasure to listen to. Cos expertly navigated the bus safely around countless cyclists on narrow roads with frequent up and down grades. My son and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and highly recommend you enjoy it for yourself.

Lovely cruise with knowledgeable and interesting commentary. Lots of free time on the island before joining bus tour - again such interesting and knowledgeable commentary. It seemed like a long day, but well worthwhile.

The ferry across to Rottnest was great. Coming back, the water was a bit rougher; definitely worth taking travel sickness meds if you suffer from sea sickness! (The Rottnest General Store had Travacalm Ginger; if you need something stronger, bring it with you!) On the bus tour, our driver (Simon) and tour guide (Holly) were excellent. She was a fount of information, and we learned many interesting facts about the island, its wildlife, and its history. And he … well, he drove (what more can be said?) but he got us there and back safely and comfortably! And my partner and I had somehow managed to go most of the day without seeing a quokka — so when we got to the end of the tour, Holly went out of her way to point out where to find them, and what to look for. Rottnest does have a bus service which allows you to get off and on at any stop (for a $30 day pass) and while that can be a great way to explore the island, this tour definitely provides extra value that is worth checking out. Thanks, Simon and Holly — and the assorted ferry crew!
