This was one of the best tours I have ever been on, so well organized by Hanatour and worth every penny. The cherry on the top was Jay our tourist guide who overwhelmed us with his generosity and kindness, in addition to an abundance of humor and making sure that everyone’s needs are attended to. Thank you Jay for introducing me to your wonderful country Korea and I will for sure come back.

Trip overview: This was my first true solo trip and first time to Korea, so HanaTour 7 day tour was a perfect sample of the country for my brief 1 week stay! When I booked, I let them know I needed to leave the tour a day early to attend a wedding and they offered to arrange my train ticket back to Seoul and everything, which was so helpful. Another huge plus: unlike many other tours I looked at, HanaTour does not require solo travelers to share rooms. All other tours either paired solo travelers together or charged significantly more for a private room, so I really appreciated that! Even though I didn’t get the upgraded hotel/food package, I ate every meal with the group at a very reasonable price—and all of the hotels were perfectly fine (2 of them were the same as the upgrade)! We saw a LOT in a short time, but you know what you’re signing up for. For me, it was almost the perfect amount of time at each stop. There was usually some free time to wander around on your own, which helped things feel less rushed. The guide gave brief overviews at each location, but if you’re looking for deep historical explanations or a slower, more leisurely pace, this tour may not be for you. Lunches and dinners were arranged by the guide, and every restaurant offered something different and local. Most meals were family-style sharing, which honestly became one of my favorite parts of the experience. I do wish there was a little bit more time in some of the markets, but overall it was a great itinerary! Tour guide: Of course, we’re all here to see the sights and to experience Korea. For me, half of the experience doesn’t come from things and photos, but instead the people you meet (and food you share with them) along the way. It was just myself and an amazing 80y/o couple from Portugal for the first 4 days. Initially, when first meeting our guide Mr. Jay, I thought it might be a bit of a rocky tour. He’s not warm and bubbly like the many other guides I’ve seen, but rather straight forward and what some may consider ‘rough around the edges.’ But throughout the first day, and after dinner, those rough edges softened a bit, and sharing meals honestly became one of my favorite things, as that’s where we were able to chat candidly about our lives. He confidently answered questions we had about anything, and while his English wasn’t perfect, I was still able to understand everything he said. Although if you’re not a strong English speaker, or need precise grammar to understand someone, it may be a bit harder. He always made sure we were taken care of — whether that meant buying us water or making sure we always had plenty of food during meals. When he dropped me off at the train station early to head back to Seoul, he even walked me all the way to the platform to make sure I knew exactly where to go. 🥲 Mr. Jay may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but he quickly grew on me throughout the tour. Maybe it was asking him more personal questions or maybe it was just seeing an old softie behind a tough exterior. And whether it was intentional or not, I found humor in many things he did/said—what’s life without a little teasing and laughter after all?! He’s certainly more than what meets the eye and if you’re open to it, you’ll see it for yourself as well. 10/10 would recommend this tour! 재원 아저씨, 건강 잘 챙기시고 웃는 일 많았으면 좋겠어요. 힘드시면 꼭 쉬시고요. 다음에 또 봬요!

Absolutely perfect in every way. From the pickup to the drop off there could be nothing better. Hotels were outstanding and the meals were gourmet style. Our Tour Guide Mark Tak was absolutely fantastic. He even gave us Korean Language Lessons. He loves his job and his country. The small number of participants was amazing. Everything was covered from admission fees to no waiting in line. The Temple Stay was an awesome experience. To interact with the monk was one of the highlights. It got us involved with the History of the Korean Kingdoms and we were part of the culture. The Hanbok Experience was another highlight. Highly recommend this tour for anybody that wants a immersive introduction to Korean Culture.
