First of all, the experience begins with the boat transfer where the team will be happy to welcome you, at the reception pontoon of your hotel, or at the Vaitape quay. Once you arrive on the motu Taufarii, you will be given a fun introduction to the fascinating history of the Polynesian black pearl, and to pearl farming techniques. Then you will board the boat to discover, while snorkeling, near a coral garden, strings of oysters in their natural environment. The oysters are dived to a depth of 1 meter, and with the team, you will be able to browse the lines of oysters, and choose your own oyster to harvest! The luckiest among you may also have the opportunity to observe manta rays! Upon returning to the motu Taufarii, our team will proceed with you to open the oysters to reveal the precious black pearls! The experience ends with the tasting of local fruits and fresh drinks, in a sublime natural setting, with a breathtaking view of the lagoon and Mount Otemanu! Everyone will leave with the pearl collected, in a small sand bottle, or in a velvet pouch. And finally, everyone will be brought back to the meeting point.

Awesome experience 10/10. Hiti is experienced and also a fun guy. He showed us a lot of knowledge about pearls and we enjoyed a lot! Definitely recommended for all!

This is a wonderful adventure and everyone takes home a prize! Our fabulous, knowledgeable and super fun guides took us to their pearl farm where we all dove in and selected an oyster. Back on land, they carefully pried open the shell and extracted the gorgeous pearl.

Really neat and educational program that teaches how Tahitian pearls are made. We got to attend an educational and super fun presentation about pearl making with Manu who was really fun. Then we dove for our own pearls and we got two beauties! Thank you for the great program and beautiful pearls.

The tour was great - informative/educational, full of action, and funny. Tahi and Manu picked us up at the dock of our resort, brought us to an area with teaching diagrams (actually very useful!), then took us to another area where we snorkeled and picked out our oysters, and brought us back for the reveal. All information was conducted in English alternating with French, and as a bilingual myself I was very impressed with how seamlessly these two languages were interwoven. We brought our 3 yo toddler who was quite shy but enjoyed picking out an oyster and watching the extraction process. Totally understand the time/material contraints, but would have loved to have an option to pay extra and mount our pearl in a piece of jewelry, perhaps to bd delivered later? However, this does not stop me from wholeheartedly endorsing this tour.

Had a great time learning about how pearls are farmed and formed. Tahi made it fun and educational always smiling and laughing. Glad to say we broke the Westin curse, both my niece and I are now legends as we each had a pearl in our oyster first pick. Took the pearls to town and had them made into necklaces. What a great souvenir to remember Bora Bora by.

Despite a rainy morning on the day of the excursion, you have the advantage of having a boat with a roof covering. Thank you for the fruit and drinks after the farm. Special thanks to Captain Manu and Mana for their service. It’s great to see young people passionate about what they do.

This was the highlight of my kids trip - Mana was extremely engaging with the kids and adults alike. He was very knowledgeable and clearly cares about doing a great job. We all came home with the most beautiful pearls. Would 100% do this trip again and recommend to anyone.

Absolutely amazing, unique experience and the staff were incredible. Very friendly and knowledgeable people! You get picked up at your resort and taken via boat their beach area, where you are given a “presentation” (more engaging than that) on the process of pearl farming. After that, you get back on the boat and driven out to the “farm” in the ocean, snorkel for a set of oysters, then pick the one you want to open. They drive the boat back to their land, open it for you through the whole process, buff/shine it and put it in a cute holder while you eat fruit and drinks. Then they finish by taking you back to your resort. Very unique experience and well worth the cost!!
