Led by a Passionate Local Historian, this tour walks a FULL circuit of the famous City Walls with SMALLER sized groups for the quality of a guest's experience.
Available as either a PUBLIC Tour with individual bookable places or as a PRIVATE Tour for your group only.
1. Private Tours (2 hrs)(1-30 places) Alternative starting points and routes can be requested and adapted to facilitate disabled or wheelchair guests.
2. Public Tour -Individual Places (est90mins)(1-15 places)

This tour gives a wider introduction to the city's history, including St Columba, Vikings, Normans and Irish chieftains, the Plantation of Ulster, the building of its iconic Walls, the siege of 1688/89, emigrations to the New World of the Scots Irish, industrialisation including the shirt factories, the 1840s potato famine , the Home Rule crisis and partition, the city in two World Wars , the recent Troubles, the peace process including Brexit, and the Derry Girls.

What To Expect
Shipquay Gate
In this section of the tour we will be able to see the Walls of Derry, the Guildhall, the Tower Museum, oldest cannons on the Walls and views of Peace Bridge. We will consider the history of the city from its origins to plantation and the building of the Walls.
Ferryquay Gate
From this section of the tour we will be looking at Ferryquay Gate, the Playhouse, St Columb's Cathedral and the Fountain Estate, as well as discussing aspects of the sieges history of the city

90 min City Walls PUBLIC Tour
Individual Places (Max of 15): Prices vary by time and group sizes. Book all 15 places if available to convert to a private tour. Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes: Approximately 75-90 minutes depending on guests walking speeds. Public Tour Route: Usually Anti-Clockwise on the City Walls.
2 Hour City Walls PRIVATE Tour
Private Group Tour : Book for your Private group of 1 to 15 people Duration: 1 hour 45 minutes: Alternative inner city centre start points, such as hotels can usually be arranged. Please request after booking. Tour Route: Normally clockwise and can usually be adapted for guests who use a wheelchair or other disabilities, if notified in advance. Start Times: Other Start Times may be available on request

5.00David lead a tour for myself and colleagues around the Derry City Walls. David is a wealth of information about the history of Derry City. We were introduced to areas of the city which we had never explored before and got an opportunity to view the Christmas Tree display in St Columb's Cathedral and see the history around Cecil Frances Alexander. Altogether a wonderful tour and I would highly recommend David and Derrie Danders. Thank you David

5.00David is an intelligent and engaging guide! We had been in Derry for 30 minutes (having rolled in on the train from Belfast, with just enough time to drop our bags off at the hotel) before rushing off to our scheduled tour with David, so we arrived with many questions and hopes for our time in the city. David shared not only key historical locations and stories, but ensured we knew where to head for specific sights for the rest of our time in his beautiful city. He even made sure we had a good photo with the Derry Girls mural! The rain didn’t interfere with any of our 90 minute tour—just dress for the weather, and bring an umbrella. Highly, highly recommended.

We have been on many walking tours and can say without hesitation the time spent with David was very enjoyable, informative and entertaining. Our time in Derry was limited, and we wanted to maximize our experience. David presentation was thoughtful and engaging. If we return to Derry, we will not hesitate to join David on one of his other tours.

5.00The app gave the wrong time. Fortunately, we showed up early and our guide was there. David was awesome! I walk slow and his pace for the tour was perfect. He explained so much of Derry history to us.
