Travelling through the museum, visitors learn about the deeply intertwined history of sugar and Mauritius, how it has all led to the harmonious, smiling and multicultural society it is today.

The museum is well organized and tells the history of Mauritius, showing how sugar has marked and continues to mark this Island. At the end, there's a tasting of some varieties of sugar, rum, honey, jams, etc. The staff is very friendly. It's worth the visit!

A very informative, albeit old fashioned museum giving information about the history and processing of sugar. There is masses of information to read, if you go to every section and read all the captions. This is definitely not a family activity, there wouldn’t be enough to interest children. At the end you are given lots of sugar samples, a nice idea but perhaps a bit pointless. After this it’s rum tasting, 5 samples. We only had four as we simply could’t tell the difference between them one after the other! No criticisms really, the museum was extremely interesting and the food in the restaurant first rate.

This place explains the entire journey of sugar and its making process. One can also experience rum, honey and sugar tasting in this place. It is a part of the north island trip in mauritius. It is worth an experience.

Such a huge place with so many informations! It could take the whole day for you to read and explore every corner of the sugar museum. We took the audio guide which is an app that you download via your phone. It leads you throught museum points explaining about Mauritius history, start od sugar production and impact on the social life. At the end od the tour you have a shop where you can taste whole bunch of different kinds of sugar and rum. Enjoy! P.S. it is a perfect activity to do when its a rainy day

Very enriching and complete museum with activities offered at the end for tasting different types of sugar, honey and rum. I particularly thank Ms. Darshinee for her service.

Visited here whilst on honeymoon as we had been recommended it by a few people. Firstly this place is huge and filled with a lot of information. You could visit here and not need to visit any other museum on the island. With that said though it is a lot of text to read so plan your time wisely as you could spend the day reading absolutely everything. At the end of the museum path is a gift shop and a rum section which we looked forward to however if you’re driving keep in mind you won’t be able to taste them all. We had excellent service by the gentleman at the bar. Would recommend.

A magnificent place where the history of the island and sugar cane mix. Essential to understand all the stages of sugar but also of rum and the epic of the population. Sugar tasting at the end of the visit, but be careful expensive but also honey and rum

We visited as part of the scheduled excursion to visit the north of the island. We really liked the factory/museum, the sugar tasting and the rum tasting. We were lucky enough to eat at the factory restaurant and we ate very well.

A very well laid out self guided tour. Very interesting story and significantly more about the history of Mauritius than I expected. Very interesting and engaging place. I would recommend improving the cooling inside. It was extremely hot and sticky inside.
