Julie (PLK Travel) was our guide, and she was excellent, both in terms of describing the history of Korea leading up to the creation of the DMZ, and framing the painful humanity of the separation of families caused by this event, as well. Having lived in the US for a while, her English was excellent, so comprehension wasn't an issue at all, as it sometimes can be on tours in foreign lands. And her explanation of the "comfort girls" and the horrid atrocities they faced at the hands of the Japanese invaders was moving, (especially in this day and age, with the crimes being uncoved by the Epstein Investigation, even as they pale by comparison, ugly as they are!) Also, having a North Korean defector speak to us about her ordeal was fascinating and compelling, as well. And, Julie was very helpful in that part of our itinerary as a facilitator, fielding our questions to that former North Korean. On the so-so side, the buffet lunch stop was okay - acceptable for the price, but nothing special. My only regret was that I wish we could have taken photos of North Korea from the Nora Observatory. That would have been a big plus, but I understand that's a military decision (for whatever reason) and out of the hands of Viator and PLK Travel.) Overall, I'd recommend this tour to anyone with an interest in learning more about the recent history (past 70-100 years) and culture of Korea, (that is, if they get a guide as passionate and as knowledgeable about the subject as Julie).

We booked the trip spontaneously and we were not disappointed! Dennis our Guide is very funny, charming and knows a lot historical facts! I learned a lot in an amusing way so i’ll definitely not forget! We had lots of time to stroll around on our own, my favourites were the red bridge and the tunnel - great view and really funny to walk with a helmet underground (wouldn’t recommend if scared of heights or claustrophobic haha) xD . loved the experience!! 🫰🏻🫰🏻

Denise was super informative and profesional while keeping a fun and joyfull environment regardless of the serious nature of this tour. Learned a lot and had a lot of fun 😊 He also gave us just enough time to roam around on our own and still make it in time :) I believe that it was thanks to his attitude that despite being quite a few people a beautiful atmosphere formed and people that just met today looked like long time friends Thanks Denis!

I had a fantastic time on the DMZ tour. It was incredibly informative and well organised from start to finish. Our tour guide, Dennis, was extremely knowledgeable and explained the history in a way that was both engaging and easy to understand. He kept things interesting with humour at the right moments, but was also respectful and serious when discussing the more sensitive and emotional parts of the history. His empathy and understanding of the significance of the DMZ really stood out. I learned so much and would highly recommend this tour — especially with Dennis as your guide.

Dennis from plk travel was very funny, witty, and informative for the trip. The Korean history related to DMZ was also very interesting to know. I would recommend this trip for anyone who wants to know about Korea, besides K-pop or k drama.

Dennis was really informative and friendly. We liked the tour, it was from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. We did the suspension bridge and loved it. The tunnel is steep and I have asthma so I had to take a lot of breaks, there are seats in the tunnel for this. 10/10
