Experience the thrill of riding in one of Alaska's oldest modes of transportation! The dogsled! Towns, villages and lifestyles were created using the traditional style dogs that you will meet while on your tour. Learn of the rich history of Chatanika from one of our guides while travelling through a beautiful boreal forest.
We only have 2 tour slots a day to give each group ample time. This is a small family run business and you will be greeted and guided by an owner the entire time here. We do accomidate families/large groups & single travelers! For group size requests over 6 guests please contact Howling Bay Kennel direct through their website.
Our weight limit per guest is 250lbs clothed. If you exceed the weight limit, but meet the physical requirements and can comfortably participate, we may be able to accomidate you as a single rider for a double booking fee. Please inquire directly with all questions or concerns. Thank you & Happy Trails!

Wonderful experience. Very knowledgeable, friendly staff. Would recommend this trip. Easy to find and not too far off the “beaten path” when the weather is not good.

Gliding through the snow on a sled pulled by beautiful canines speaks for itself. Any adventure can be ruined by a host just doing their job. We left feeling like we had just been hanging out with a friend doing what they love. If one is looking for bells and whistles, enjoy chatty guides pouring out useless information and receiving a free cup of hot chocolate is of great importance then this isn’t for you. If you want the freedom to love on multiple dogs, witness the work put into them and take in beautiful scenery this is it. Take the time to meditate on the fact these dogs weren’t born with the intelligence they possess. A lot of time, patience and dedication has been put in to give you an experience of a lifetime. Dogsledding was marked off of my bucket list and revisiting Howling Bay has been added. Forever grateful!!
