Disappointing Experience Despite Doha’s Beauty

1.00My experience with this city tour was unfortunately disappointing. I sent the pickup location 12 hours in advance, and again sent an updated pickup location 4 hours before the tour. My guide replied “sure,” so I believed everything was confirmed. However, at the scheduled time, the guide was waiting at a different location, not the one I had clearly specified. After considerable difficulty, we finally met about 30 minutes later. Despite this confusion, there was no apology, and instead I was asked to understand the situation from the guide’s perspective. I understood the situation as a communication issue and made an effort to continue the tour with a positive and open mindset. During the tour itself, the guide was frequently on the phone, often speaking with a friend who was present at some of the locations. While the general route and basic information were provided, the explanations were very brief, and it felt as though the guide’s attention was not fully on us. Additionally, the guide repeatedly promoted a new tour he had recently created, which felt inappropriate during a paid experience. Doha is a truly beautiful city, and we genuinely enjoyed being there. However, this tour — including the meal — did not justify a price of about USD 240 in terms of service quality, professionalism, or overall value. I chose this tour based on reviews, and for that reason, I hope many people will read this feedback. More importantly, I sincerely hope this tour will improve, as the destination itself deserves a much better experience.

4.00The tour of the Souk was great, our driver Junaid, was extremely well informed and shared a lot of detail about the way of life, the customs and pastimes of the locals as well as the history of the country. The stop at Katara cultural village was also good but would’ve liked a bit of time to explore more. Unfortunately we didn’t get to stop at Corniche nor Pearl island we were just driven through which was disappointing and the guide never joined us at all nor communicated directly with us to why he wasn’t there, we just understood they were short of staff. Junaid did a great job especially under the circumstances and also showed us Little Venice and pointed out all the landmarks as we drove by. Overall we really enjoyed the places we visited, but the tour was just not as described.

5.00We chose to just stay at the market since we had an earlier tour that covered the rest of the sights. It was perfect to do an in depth visit there and sit down with our guide to understand the life in the day of a person living in Qatar. The religion, culture, food and coexistence with so many immigrants. Learned a lot and enjoyed Junaid.

5.00Jarvid was an excellent guide and amazing photographer. He was knowledgeable and provided great history and cultural information. The company was very kind to accommodate us after I made an error in the booking. Would definitely book with them again and ask for Javid! His photographs were professional and he helped create great memories for us.
