The Val Nervia is an absolute must-see place of the Riviera dei Fiori. It is one of the loveliest parts of Liguria’s hinterland.
This is the domain of one of the finest Italian wines, and one of Italy’s best kept secrets, which is gaining popularity and is in great demand worldwide. Rossese di Dolceacqua or Dolceacqua, a favourite of Napoleon’s.
Dolceacqua is the ancient village dominated by the imposing ruin of the Castello dei Doria which towers over the old town on the left bank of the river. Its name means “sweet water”. A single-arched 15th-century bridge spans 33m across the river and leads to the old town.
The Impressionist painter Claude Monet immortalized on canvas. “The place is superb, there is a bridge that is a jewel of lightness”, he wrote in his diary.

Castello dei Doria
You'll meet the guide in front of the Sanremo Casino. We'll drive along the amazing coastline and you'll enjoy the breathtaking landscape overlooking the crystalline blue sea, surrounded by sweet, green slopes dottet with Mediterranean maquis, flowers, and lemon trees. Then we continue our excursion driving along the ancient Roman street, and we reach the Nervia Valley. We stop in Dolceacqua and our licensed tourist guide will led you to discover this delightful medieval village, home of the most prized and famous red wines in Italy, Rossese di Dolceacqua. We will visit the Castello dei Doria and we will walk on the famous bridge painted by Claude Monet. He described it a "jewel of lightness". At the end of the tour we'll taste 2 local wines (Rossese di Dolceacqua - a local ruby red wine- and a local white wine), pairing them with focaccia and a small local cake called "michette". This is the best way to enjoy the Italian Riviera: art, history, Nature, and good wines!

We decided on a very short notice to go on a wine / sightseeing trip, and Roberta responded super fast. The trip was great - with just the right amount of everything given the hours we had available. Roberta is extremely knowledgeable about the area, the history, the wine and the food, and very pleasant and fun company!
