We did the tour when the weather was not good, so we feared the worst. But much to our surprise the tour was actually very nice. The rain created a huge number of temporary waterfalls and the clouds added so much to the mystic atmosphere of the fjord. The entire tour, including the bus ride to Lake Manapuri, the boat trip on the lake, the bus ride to Deep Cove and the boat tour in the fjord are highly recommended.

Real NZ did a great job of making all the connections very slick. The most amazing trip of a lifetime. Lake Manapouri is stunningly beautiful and then you get to Doubtful sound after a coach trip over the Wilmot pass. All of the drivers, Captains and crew gave great commentary and were very friendly. Doubtful Sound did not disappoint! Thoroughly recommend this trip.

Fantastic cruise. Beautiful scenery. So glad we had chosen it. Been to Milford so decided to go Doubtful sound this time.Very friendly staff at RealNZ who operate the cruise. Was disappointed that because l had booked to catch bus from Te Anau the pick up time was wrong. It was the actual check in time at Manapourie . Only because l wasn’t familiar with the area l went to see where pick up was from. That’s when RealNZ staff member told me my check in time was wrong. If l had rocked up at the time said on paperwork l would have missed my tour. That would have been disappointing.

I am tired out after this tour. About an hour on boat across lake and same on bus before cruise started… Yes it is a lovely place but is was not the unspoiled wilderness as painted in the advertising as it was just us and c 150 others!!!

The views at doubtful sound were beautiful. The boat was comfortable and our guide was very knowledgeable. We were lucky enough to see penguins!! It is a long day (8 hours) but well worth it.

We had a fantastic experience, calm water, saw penguins, seals and dolphins. The skipper took us into the Tasman Sea because it was calm enough. Great commentary all the way. The only downside was the bus from Te Anau left earlier than our ticket said. We were lucky to have been there early, another couple was left behind. I am unsure if this was because it wasn't booked directly with the RealNZ or not. I would be upset to have missed this trip because the time was incorrect. Overall an excellent experience!

Brilliant day but cold do take plenty of layers. Expected to see loads of wildlife but there wasn’t much. Coach driver between the 2 boats made our day with the stuff he told us. A real asset to the company

The Doubtful Sound Wilderness Cruise was absolutely breathtaking! The whole experience was very organised and well planned — from the check-in to the transfers and the cruise itself. At one point, the current was quite strong, but the captain calmly assured us of our safety and announced that he would do his best to make the journey as smooth and safe as possible. His professionalism really put us at ease. What I loved most was the moment of silence — the captain turned off the engines, and everyone stayed quiet. The stillness was so serene and tranquil, surrounded only by the sounds of nature. It was truly unforgettable. The crew were friendly, knowledgeable, and shared interesting facts throughout the trip. We even saw dolphins and seals! A must-do experience in Fiordland — highly recommended!

This was an interesting and informative trip. The staff were helpful and keen to share information. We appeared to be the only tourist boat on Doubtful Sound so well worth the 2 buses and 1 additional boat to get there. We had a wet and misty day but that only added to the dramatic surroundings.
