Your experience starts at our Meeting Point, next to S. Bento Station and you will meet your guide that will drive you to the Amarante, our first stop. On your way to the Douro Region, your guide will give you insights regarding the Portuguese history, development and cultural facts of portuguese heritage.
Amarante
Amarante, our first stop, features the majestic Serra do Marão and the river Tâmega, which flows through the city and adds charm to its picturesque houses. The city, possibly founded by the Roman centurion Amarantus, links the provinces of Minho and Trás-os-Montes. In the 13th century, St. Gonçalo, a Benedictine monk and the city's patron saint, built a bridge over the Tâmega. Amarante is also renowned for its sweets, including papos de anjo, brisas do Tâmega, toucinho do céu, bolos de São Gonçalo, and galhofas, which can be found in local cake-shops and cafés.

Porto is one of the most beautiful wine growing regions in the world. It is a place that I have marked where my retirement home should be. .Having travelled to many countries, this is a strong validation of how much I love this place ; having been to it twice in 7 years. I love love love the scenery, the colours of the vines, the placid waters of the Duoro (and Pinhao) rivers.

Our guide (Mario) and driver (José) are great! They are very professional and helpful. Mario's wealth of knowledge and presentation of the information is exceptional. The countryside is beautiful, and learning why it is a good area to grow wine grapes (shale under the soil, e.g.) is fascinating. We toured two different wineries, and had many tasting opportunities at each. Lunch at the second is top-notch, with a delicious and filling 5-course meal and unlimited wine to compliment it. We highly recommend this A+ day trip to others, especially if Mario & José can take them!

We so enjoyed our trip with Jeremy as our guide! He was knowledgeable about the area and he made the trip a lot of fun. The area is beautiful even on a rainy day (which ours was). The traditional lunch was delicious and the boat ride was great way to end the day.

Maru was an excellent guide, we were the only Spaniards in the group and it was no problem because she explained things in English and Spanish. You can see that he knows about the subject and solves all the doubts and curiosities that arise. 10/10

First of all, I am not a tour person, so doing this was a first for me, and I couldn’t have been more surprised at how amazingly fun and informative it was! And I’m quite sure that in addition to the exceptional places we visited, the quality of the tour had everything to do with our guide, MARU, who was so above & beyond it was astonishing! I was shocked at the depth of her explanations about everything from the history of the area we visited, to the process of wine and Port making, and the backgrounds of the people involved in this intriguing industry (going back centuries in this part of Portugal), and on and on it went! We also had a wonderful group who was very interactive so we had great questions and she answered them all without skipping a beat (not to mention translating everything from English into Spanish for the benefit of the four people who spoke that language on our tour). She speaks five languages and has lived all over the world which I’m sure contributes to her ability to be such an expert at guiding, I really cannot express how impressed I was with her clear passion for her job, which made visiting this part of the world that much more interesting! It sounds trite, but I’d follow her wherever she went just to learn more about any corner of the globe! She’s beyond a stellar asset to the company who employs her, and I hope they pay her handsomely!!

Great day trip into the Douro valley! Enjoyed the views, a tasty meal, great experiences. Shoutout to our guide Maru who was very informative and led the group with a sense of adventure, in addition to making the agenda/next stop timing clear for all participants (this was a multi-lingual group). This tour focuses on breadth of experience, not intensive depth, so if you want to spend an hour+ in one small town this may not be for you. But we very much enjoyed seeing a variety of places in the Douro Valley. The wine experiences were samplings; two wines were offered for you to refill as you wished at lunch, and at the Quinta for the actual tasting there were 3 small pours (red wine, moscato, and tawny Port) and informative descriptions.

Such a great experience. I was expecting at least 3 wineries but we just went to one. Even though that was the case, it was exceptional. Great wines, amazing sight seen and incredible tour guide.

We enjoyed every moment of this tour. The fall colors of the vineyards in the valley were so beautiful, the boat trip was relaxing, the wine tasting was excellent, and the lunch we had was so delicious! The tour guide and the host of the lunch place were so friendly and welcoming. What a gorgeous tour we had!
