Youla was an amazing host. She planned a very interesting and diverse tour where we saw many places of interest, learned lots about local culture and etiquette and most importantly tried some great food!

Jenny was a great guide to introducing us to Korean street food. If you have just arrived in Seoul and want to get your bearings, this is a great way to get comfortable with and understanding the food culture.

Great evening spent touring the food markets of Seoul with Jenny. Lots of variety and generous portions along with a guide who provided a comprehensive and informative introduction to Korean food. Highly recommend this tour and our guide.

Our tour guide was Youla, she was great! Very friendly and explained a lot about each of the foods we go to try. Great variety of savory and sweet. We even tried the fresh octopus, while it was still moving!!! Over all great experience.

Youla was our amazing guide - super friendly, efficient and very welcoming to everyone. She happily passed onto us her knowledge of Korean food, culture and the local area. Youla was keen and interested to learn from us what we liked, what we were interested in and she also had some great suggestions for our stay in Korea. As well as providing a great food tour, we loved the tips on K Beauty skin care products, other sites and areas to visit in Seoul and her general enthusiasm for all things Korean. Can highly recommend this tour -the food options are very diverse, from the simple and delicious to the exotic and (for some) challenging. Five Stars!

I don’t usually write negative reviews, but this experience genuinely deserves one, if only so that future travelers know what they’re signing up for. The tour started with the guide arriving almost 10 minutes late. Not a huge deal, things happen, but ironic since the email emphasized that everyone needed to arrive at least 15 minutes early. What was concerning was how rushed and disorganized everything felt from the very beginning. There were NO introductions, NO attempt to learn anyone’s names, and ZERO effort to establish any kind of rapport. To be clear, our guide seemed like a kind person, but guiding a group requires a baseline level of engagement that was simply nonexistent. From that point on, it felt less like a “guided tour” and more like being briskly herded from one stop to another. The #1 most glaring issue: she NEVER checked if the group was actually following her. We were navigating crowded, narrow streets, especially around Insadong, where it’s incredibly easy to get separated. I specifically paid attention to this and noted that she did not turn around a single time to make sure everyone was still with her. Eventually, another responsible group member stepped up and made sure no one got lost… which is not something a paying customer should have to do. At one point, we joked among ourselves that maybe she was walking fast to avoid interacting with us. And it’s not like our group was difficult, everyone was friendly, respectful, and open to conversation. Ironically, the only bonding that really happened was over how baffling the experience was. Two people even left midway through. As for the “food tour” aspect, it was incredibly underwhelming. The explanations barely scratched the surface: mostly just when dishes are typically eaten and basic ingredients. She didn’t even introduce most foods by their Korean names unless someone asked. There was almost no cultural or historical context, aside from a random tangent about her experience teaching North Koreans, which felt out of place and not particularly relevant. It honestly felt like her role was limited to fast-walking us to restaurants and ordering on our behalf. The food itself was perfectly fine, but nothing special. If you’ve had Korean food before, you’re unlikely to find anything memorable here. While we did leave full, the overall value is hard to justify. I would estimate the total cost of food for the entire 11-people group (including alcohol) was well under $100. The tour lasted 3.5 hours, though we seriously considered leaving early just like the two others who actually did. Funnily enough, the highlight of the experience had nothing to do with the tour itself. At our final tea stop, a member of a Buddhist group approached and kindly gifted us bracelets (not one of those scams, just a genuinely nice gesture). The guide’s response? She declined rather abruptly, stating she was Christian, which came across as unnecessarily dismissive and awkward. It’s rather shocking to see that this tour (and guide) with so many positive reviews, because our experience has been the complete opposite. I’ve traveled extensively and rarely feel compelled to write something this critical, but this was probably the worst tour I’ve ever been on. To the tour company: please invest in training your guides. Basic things like engaging with guests, ensuring group safety, and providing meaningful context about the food and culture should not be optional. Even something as simple as turning around occasionally to check on your group would have made a difference. Thankfully, this experience has been the exception. Seoul has been incredible otherwise with its warm people, amazing food, and rich culture. This tour, unfortunately, did not reflect that at all.

This tour was terrible. I would have loved to hear about the food and culture but I am really disappointing with the tour guide and the overall food on the tour. We left early because we didnt get the experience we wanted. Buyer beware, go have a nice dinner somewhere else and save your money its NOT WORTH IT!!!

Tour with Jenny! It was fabulous. We tried so much Korean food. We ate in many local places and tried many dishes. We had the opportunity to try foods we never normally would have and to eat in places we wouldn’t have known about. Jenny was amazing for recommendations and information and looking after us well. We were stuffed! Finished up in a traditional tea house. It was a the highlight of our trip to Seoul. Thank you Jenny!

Be sure to come hungry because you will eat a lot! We visited a very busy market, popping into little hole in the wall restaurants that I never would’ve found without this tour. You definitely get your moneys worth. It was our tour guides first tour I believe, so I think she was a bit nervous and a group was late, which made it even more stressful for her, however, she was very pleasant and I really enjoyed the tour.
