Explore beautiful tropical beaches on this full-day catamaran trip from Key West to Dry Tortugas National Park. The Dry Tortugas islands were discovered by Ponce De Leon in 1513; he sighted more than 100 sea turtles swimming in the seas surrounding the seven islands. Fort Jefferson, located on one of the islands, was initially designed to serve as a defense for the United States back in 1812. Today, you can relive the history of these islands and take in their beautiful scenery by voyaging on a luxury catamaran from Key West.

The Yankee Freedom III catamaran is powered by twin Caterpillar engines that give her a speed of over 30 miles per hour, making Yankee Freedom III Catamaran the fastest vessel of her size out of Key West. Also, below decks are two generators plus a multitude of machinery and equipment to operate the vessel in the safest, quietest, and most dependable manner possible. Yankee Freedom III passengers have the option of joining a 40-minute guided tour of the fort led by one of our expert naturalists. You’ll hear captivating stories about the fort, its remarkable history and its surroundings. As you explore the fort, imagine life here during the hectic 1860s. At its height nearly 2,000 people lived within this remote city on the sea... The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers faced many challenges during the fort’s lengthy construction. Shifting sands, storms, and harsh conditions were common obstacles. The remote location hampered the shipment of supplies and skilled workers, especially during the Civil War.

We had a wonderful time visiting the Dry Tortugas aboard the Yankee Freedom. The crew of the ship was awesome (special shoutout to Hollywood). They made the trip out to the park easy and comfortable. The Dry Tortugas is one of the most remote and secluded of the National Parks, making our experience there all the more special. Snorkeling through its waters was amazing. It’s a truly beautiful and remarkable place. Bring an extra change of clothes, towels, and plenty of sunblock.

Hollywood was an awesome host on the cruise to / from Dry Tortugas but he really shined as a tour guide at the fort. His knowledge of the history of the fort and his enthusiasm for the subject was nothing short of phenomenal. The rest of the crew was friendly and professional. The whole tour was extremely enjoyable.

Great experience on the boat itself. Info on what you can bring should be more clear, I was told NO BEACH UMBRELLAS and chairs for day travelers but yet saw many people with them. Wish the changing rooms on the island were open. Being a larger individual it was hard to change clothes in such small bathrooms on the boat. Otherwise, had a good time, learned some things and got to see a lot of even cooler things.

FOCUS on knowing it is a 2.5hr one way trip, not an issue just be aware. Crew is great so there won't be any issues but know your tolerance with waves and motion sickness. On Island go on the tour they provide, or go yourselves and jump in. We dove off the north side and were able to see a bunch of sea life, 6ft tarpons, jacks, crabs, and coral fish
