We tell the story of the young Irish rebel leader the Bold Robert Emmet who was a local at this pub in the days of the UnitedIrishmen rebellion, we go on to visit his execution spot nearby. There's has been a hostelry here since 1198. Licensing laws only came into effect in 1635, yet this pub has been serving alcohol before official licensing laws were even introduced. Our tour was so informative and so much fun! Noel, our tour guide, was quite knowledgeable about Ireland and Dublin's history and shared it as we were walking down the very places where it happened! He was friendly and courteous, and we immediately felt like we were hanging out with an old friend. We did the Jameson tour first and began with a complimentary drink. The tour and tasting was excellent. We learned about the history of the Guinness family, and the distilling process was full of sensory treats. Our guide inside the tasting room was so enthusiastic and funny, and had great information! He expertly guided us through three whiskey tastings. We then walked through town a bit with Noel, where he described the rebellions and fighting that took place on the very spots we stood. We then stopped at The Brazen Head, the oldest bar in Ireland, where we all shared a pint and some laughs. The bar was so charming, and we felt right at home. Be sure to see the room where police officers and firefighters from all over leave their patches on the walls. We then proceeded to Guinness, which is a complete experience in itself! It is very interesting and fun, mostly self-guided and interactive. Each floor highlights something different: from the company's history, to the brewing process, to their marketing, and so on. We stopped on one floor and learned how to pour the perfect pint (an extra charge), even receiving a "Certificate of Achievement" along with the pints we poured. We ended up with a complimentary pint at the Gravity Bar on the 7th floor of the building, which boasts a breathtaking 360-degree view of the city. I absolutely recommend having a tour guide for this day, which took about 4-5 hours, and Noel was absolutely excellent! Please plan to take a cab home after finishing up at Guinness!

We did our homework and based on reviews we felt using Dublin Heratige Tours through Viator would maximise our experience to both of these iconic places. Both of these locations hold historical significance to the more recent development (200+ years)of Dublin and Ireland, so having someone like Marty our tour guide who is a university graduate in history was a wonderful element to our visits. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Tours were great and woven together seamlessly by Marty our guide who was fantastic. It’s like we had a whole day or touring in 4-5 hours. Having a guide take you through Guinness makes all the difference.

Through an operational error our guide was given the wrong time and was not there at the appointed meeting time/place. The Jameson folks were terrific and made room for us in a standard tour. Our assigned guide scurried to get there and meet us by the end of the Jameson tour. He was good and did his best to apologize and compensate for the glitch on viator’s part. However the timing was off for subsequent tours at Guinness and again we had to wait in lines for standard tours. Lines were not horrible but this was not the VIP tour (treatment) we signed up and paid for. We’ve made several trips and have for the most part had great experiences with Viator, so this was disappointing. Once we were able to track down the number of of the subcontracted tour company and call them, they got on the case immediately to seek a remedy. Again the Jameson folks were amazingly helpful and understanding and our guide, once we got connected was really good, but the logistical mistake threw off everything. This was NOT the quality performance we’ve come to expect from Viator, especially for what was billed as a VIP tour.

Noel made our trip! He was simply the best! He was aware of our needs, simplified traversing the city and brought laughter, great history and a friendly face to our time in Dublin. He gave helpful recommendations and was wonderful to communicate with. I highly recommend this tour and if you get Noel, that is icing on the cake ! He’s the BEST of the best.

Our tour was wonderful. Sean was knowledgeable and fun. It felt more like exploring with a friend then being led by a tour guide. I would recommend this to tour to anyone!

This tour is a must for all visitors to Dublin. Obviously, Jameson and Guinness are iconic, but our guide, Seamus, provided context and connected the brands with the identity and intricate history of Dublin and Ireland. As a local resident he provided insight and background that turned the experience into a highlight of an already wonderful European vacation. Don’t just book the tour, ask for Seamus.

Highly recommend this tour. You can do them on your own, but so much better when you have a guide. Noel was great and gave us so much history as we walked along the way. Great way to experience historical locations, especially if you like whiskey and Guinness.

We had a great time learning about the history of both the Jameson Distillery and the Guinness Storehouse. Noel was a wonderful guide and had a great deal of knowledge that he shared with us! I would highly recommend the tour!
