The tour I‘m offering is basically for nature-loving guests. The guests will walk around relatively flat areas as opposed to hiking steep mountains, so the guests can spend more time in appreciating the nature of Hakone with a certified professional nature guide. The nature in Hakone is very unique in its creatures and geological aspects. The guests will meet wild plants of the season some of which are endemic only this part of Japan and the world. Also, the guests will spot resident and migratory wild birds, insects, local fish, and if lucky mammals such as weasels, deer, foxes, raccoon dogs, and so on. During the tour, the guests are suggested to use binoculars that the guide will bring for each guest during the tour as it is very handy to spot creatures and see far-off landscapes for the unique geological features of Hakone.
The tour will stimulate your sense of wonder as the nature in Hakone is much different from whererver you come from. Let's enjoy the nature in Hakone together!

An amazing experience! Went with my family and had a delightful private tour with Mr. Yoshi who was so passionate about the ecosystem of Hakone. Highlight of our trip to Japan! Very peaceful and gorgeous sights!

Review of Nature Walk I’m glad to book Mr Yoshi as a guide to the Hakone Botanical Garden of Wetlands. It was a surprising find as I had not read or heard about it on most of ads. Pampas grass field, which is 10 min away gets more publicity. I’m glad to have a guide to explain the flora and geography of hakone. Otherwise I would walk around with no recognition what I’m seeing. Mr Yoshi is knowledgeable about the flora and guides in English. I learned about the Japanese maple, how to tell it is maple species, thistles, beauty berries, burnet, skunk cabbage, mountain chrysanthemums, and other small plants and flowers. Coming from the tropics, it’s a good intro to flora in this area. The walk has nice views. I wonder why not more tourists know this place. After a walk to the pampas field, we went to Hakone Visitor centre for a video before end of walk. The visitor has trails which if you have time you can explore more.

The guide was well informed of the plants, birds, and various creatures in the Hakone area. The guide was also willing to assist with instructions on how to get to the meeting point from the Tokyo area. I would recommend this tour.

The weather was nice and therefore it was very hot, but he showed me the highlights now. At the Wet Flower Garden, we talked about not only flowers, but also the characteristics of trees, which fruits we can eat, and many other insects we see. It was interesting to hear about the characteristics of the land in Hakone and the surrounding mountains. Perhaps because of the heat, he heard the birds but could not find them, and wished he could see them next time.

This tour allowed me to get to know Hakone in a unique way. Yoshi takes you through nature to get to know the flora and fauna of the place. He is a very friendly person with a lot of knowledge of the area, he also supports you at all times giving you instructions on how to move around Hakone to get to the meeting place. No doubt if you come to Hakone you can not miss this tour.

Yoshi's description of what to expect from this experience is as modest and humble as he. His knowledge of the area, both natural and man-made is deep and wide. Yoshi provided extraordinary communication before and during the experience. He treated me more like a host rather than a guide and ensured that I, a solo English speaking traveler, was able to get to/from my accommodations and provide advice that can't be extracted from a guide book. The walk was extraordinary not just for it's beauty but the deep knowledge of the area Yoshi was happy to provide (including a remarkable 'handout' with the plants, fauna, birds, critters we might see). He was well prepared, kind and thoughtful to an extreme and even provide binoculars with needed instructions! Lunching on soba noodles was a perfect touch (do learn to slurp as this shows appreciation) and the innumerable kindnesses that he gifted to me is a memory I will treasure.

Hakone is a caldera including a big lake formed by a volcano. It features rich nature and many hot springs. It is accessible from Tokyo in an hour by train and cable car. The weather was rainy when we joined this walking tour, but the tour guide thought quickly and adjusted the route. So, we enjoyed walking in the nature and landscape. He was very knowledgeable about the history of Hakone. His explanations made our walking more enjoyable. It was a wonderful experience for us to visit where we would never have been able to visit on our own. Hakone Shisseikaen Garden was the best point to visit.

We had a wonderful experience walking in nature with our guide Mr.Yoshi, who is an expert in nature and history of Hakone. Although the weather was rainy, Mr.Yoshi changed a few courses to make it easier for us, and we actually loved walking in the fog that turned out to by dramatic and enjoyable to see. Also, the Sengokubara-Chaya (tea house) in front of the grass field was a cozy place and nice to stop by:) Definately recommend this tour if you want to experience nature in Hakone!
