I signed up for the Bridges tour with 2 of my friends a few months in advance. The night before the tour, 2 more of my buddies wanted to join, so I texted Johann On Whatsapp, and he added them to our group. We choose manual bikes over electric because fitness is important. We were picked up right on time had a short drive to firth of forth bay. We grabbed our bikes and started to climb. The 1st stop was some ancient Roman ruins, then we passed by the house belonging to the richest woman in Scotland (hint she's an Author). Some of the hills were pretty tough, but it was a great way to work off all the alcohol we had been drinking since landing in Edinburgh. Strava told me I climbed 1200 feet, which was a personal record. The highlight of the tour for me was touring a private estate on the water with castles and lots of livestock and native animals and trees. Johann explained we weren't trasspassing because in Scotland, people had a right to roam even on private property, so we were able to pass through what would have been offlimits in just about any otge country. We kept riding through suburban streets and waterside towns. Ending up on the top of a bridge that had no vehicular traffic other than the occasional bus. This tour was sceniclly beautiful, challenging but enjoyable and very informative. It was definitely the highlight of our trip to Edinburgh. After the Tour, we choose to get dropped pf at an awesome pub Johann recommended in Leith for some well-earned beer and excellent food.

I did this Bridges and Countryside e-bike tour with my cousins and we had an absolutely wonderful day! Johan was a wonderful guide from start to finish. He literally provided door to door pick up and drop off service from our accommodation. The E-bikes were in great working order, he made adjustments so we were each comfortable on our bike and knew a lot of history about the area. The bike ride was incredibly enjoyable with several stops along the way to take pictures and learn more about Scotland history and sites. Don’t hesitate booking this excursion. We all felt it was well worth the investment in time and money.

We did this wonderful tour plus his other sea to sky city tour in one fantastic day tour called the big yin. We got to see everything from famous folks houses to the forth bridges and numerous beautifully wooded Edinburgh bike routes plus we stopped for some great food, went up Arthur’s seat, learned some stuff, and chased sheep! Johann is a great guide and made the ride so much easier than it would’ve been had we tried to do it on our own. Can’t recommend Johann’s Tartan Bike Company and The Big Yin enough.

This was an amazing tour through the outskirts of Edinburgh. Felt so good to get on the bike and explore what this place has to offer outside of the usual tourist spots. Johann was an excellent guide by choosing a route with wonderful views, a safe ride, provided interesting information about the area, and was a good communicator in booking the tour and arranging transport. The pickup from where I was staying and a dropoff to a convenient location afterwards was a definite plus. I'm so glad I chose this activity and I know it'll be the highlight of my trip.

Johann was a great tour guide. The bike tour of the countryside was beautiful. We stopped at a lot of sights along the way. The actual biking was only for about 2.5 hours and we never really biked consistently for longer than 15 minutes. This could be because we were only a few people so he was able to stop more often. A few of my friends didn't join the tour because they were scared of the all day biking we expected, but its actually a really leisure bike ride with many many stops. If I was in the area again I would do the city bike tour instead. The lunch stop was delicious!

Johann took us on a PHENOMENAL tour of the coast of Edinburgh! We cannot thank him enough for his time, attention, and guidance for our roughly 20 mile ride. The pit stop at a local cafe for coffee and cake only added to the experience. You cannot go wrong with ANY of the Tartan Bicycle Company Tours and we look forward to the day we can go on another!

Unbelievable time in the rain with Johann and my dad. Our 16.5 mile trip was amazing. This trip was well planned and we saw places we wouldn’t see on a bus. The ride was effortless with the e-bike. Johann told great stories and gave great information about all areas. I was so excited when I turned the corner and there was the beach. I was just amazed at all the things I learned.

Johann was sensational. We explored outside Edinburgh. Learned lots of interesting cultural facts. Really lovely way to explore a new city. It was quite a contrast to the busy city centre

We had a fantastic bike ride seeing amazing sights and Ewen was such a great and knowledgeable tour guide. Highly recommend a tour with him. 5/5. Even drove us back to Edinburgh town to show us where we need to see best town sights.

We had a great time with Johann riding through beautiful countryside and neighborhoods. Thank you for making sure two out of shape Alaska travelers made it to the end and remember you promised not to speak of our unfortunate "wall" incident.
