Brought the history of the castle to life before we were free to roam. David was clear and enthusiastic about the history.

Fantastic tour in crappy weather. Laura really knows her stuff. My lad who was with me is autistic and listened to every word she said and kept telling me the stories on our 5 hour drive home. I dont think he has ever listened to a word I have said.

James met us right on time and was very clear about some of the possibly more confusing aspects of where he was and wasn't allowed to guide in the castle and what we were and weren't encouraged to do inside various buildings! Even though some of the buildings were closed for refurbs there were lots of places to check out. He was very sharp, very astute when it came to Scottish politics and history, and had a great sense of humor. It was a very cold windy day up there and he was sure to check on us every so often! Highly recommend windbreakers and good warm clothes if you do this on a cool or cold day, and good sturdy hiking boots or tough shoes.

I went with my parents and highly recommend this tour. We went on the 10AM tour in January so not peak tourist season and it was lovely. Earlier in the morning the castle was fairly empty meaning the views were great and it was easy to take photos. Our tour guide , Jack, gave us an insightful background and history of the castle. I recommend staying after the tour until the 1 PM gun. Jack will explain its significance in the tour.
