Our 16 mile (25 km) long Sky to Sea route takes us to the highest and lowest points of Edinburgh accessible by tarmac on a choice of manual bike or one of our popular pedal assist e-bikes, for a more relaxed experience.
Visit our very own volcano, Arthur's Seat, with its panoramic views across the city, to the golden sandy beaches and sea views at Portobello. We also pay a visit to the Port of Leith, with over 600 years of maritime history, and the Georgian New Town, a UNESCO world heritage site with it's private parks and grand town houses.
Transport to the start of the route is provided free of charge from the city centre, in our custom bike bus. Your tour will end centrally, close to the Waverley Station.

Children must be accompanied by an adult over 18 years
Minimum age is 12 years for manual bike and 16 years for e-bike
Wear comfortable casual/leisure clothing and footwear. Dress appropriately according to weather conditions
Physical activity featuring two short/medium climbs uphill which can walked if necessary. Pedal assist bikes available to help uphill and for a more relaxed experience. Recommended for leisure cyclists with moderate fitness.

Honestly, this tour was one of—if not the—favorite parts of my trip to Scotland. Getting to explore Edinburgh with a local was such a gift. Johann was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing fascinating and quirky facts along the way, and you could tell he takes genuine pride in his work. He tailored the experience perfectly to our small group’s interests, making sure every moment felt personal and memorable. Tartan Bicycles Tours is an amazing way to see beautiful parts of Edinburgh that are a little off the beaten path—you’ll discover places you’d probably never find on your own. 5.00You will not be disappointed with Tartan Bike Tours. Johann’s knowledge of the city was exceptional and he is so personable. The bike tour was one of the highlights of our trip. We had 6 adults in our group and a time constraint due to a prior commitment and Johann not only made our time commitment work but he was able to customize our day to get the most out of tour. We’ve done bike tours all over the world and this was one of our favorites. Johann went above and beyond to make our experience perfect. Make this tour one of your top priorities when visiting Edinburgh. A+
