Become your own captain or allow someone else in your group to do the driving for you. Navigate through the largest private harbor on the West Coast with over 24 miles of things to do and see. Visit Balboa Island, Lido Island, Balboa Peninsula, and more. View bayfront estates as you cruise through the harbor Newport Harbor has some of the richest homes in the country (often with the same Duffy boat you will ride in tied to their dock). Many celebrities can be seen from time to time and such icons as Shirley Temple and John Wayne had homes on the harbor. Take in stunning coastal views and stay on the lookout for sea lions. Our sign up experience seemed smooth, from a passenger’s view (not the person who booked the experience). Waiver was thorough yet easy to complete. The staff members on the dock were friendly, and clear with directions. The length of time we had was okay, and would have been better if our whole party showed up on time! However, once everyone arrived, the crew was smooth in getting us boarded on the boat and on our way.

The staff at Newport Harbor Boat rentals was great! The team member at the dock who helped us get into the boat and teach us how to drive the boat was especially friendly and attentive, which set a fun and friendly tone to the start of our trip. I was very impressed by the quality of the boat. I've been in a Duffy boat before, and this boat felt like a step up - it had more luxurious finishes, was larger, and was very clean and well-maintained. We were nervous about driving the boat at first, but it turned out to be very easy (just like driving a golf cart - turn the steering wheel to the left to turn left). The harbor wasn't too busy on a January morning, so it was a relaxing trip. I've seen ads for Duffy boats all around the area, but I'm glad I picked Newport Harbor Boat rentals.

Disappointed. We arrived 30 mins before we were set to launch. Nobody was at the kiosk. Once he arrived we waited another 10 minutes then we were informed that we each needed to fill out paperwork. We had elderly ladies with us and it took us time to get all of us signed in. By the time we reached the Duffy we had already wasted 15 minutes of our time We asked if we could return 15 minutes last to ensure that we got our 1 hour that we paid for. We were refused the request and told it would be an additional 10$ per min if we didn’t arrive back at the scheduled time. So we took a 45 min tour which was nice, however, we got ripped off.

We brought our lunch and rented the Duffy for a few hours. there were only 5 of us and we had lots of space. The ride around the bay was so nice and peaceful. I would recommend renting one of these boats if you are down the in the Newport area and looking for a great way to spend a few hours. We had several bird friends along with us and it was lovely to experience.
