  This was supposed to be a private tour. At the last minute the tour company said that it would not be private. We ended up waiting or 2 hours in the heat waiting on this other family. It was supposed to be a private tour. They would not refund part of the funds because it was not private. The van was not air conditioned and due to adding other people to our tour - we were not able to do our full tour. Would not recommend using this company.

  I had paid for a guided private tour to the equator for my family and it was non-refundable but I knew I was going to be there so I felt it would work, unfortunately after paying I was contacted and said the tour was not possible, but another tour could be arranged to see some sights and be curated for us with no discount. Without options we continued – when we arrived we were brought to a van with other guests already there in the van, and this was no longer a private trip even though this is what we paid for. There was no guide, only a driver who didn’t describe anything we drove past or even where we were going or what we were doing. The vehicle didn’t have A/C or functioning seatbelts for the passengers. The driving was beyond aggressive to the point of dangerous, swerving in and out passing cars around turns and constantly blasting the horn to warn people. The driver was constantly driving while speaking on the phone with it held to his head. The driving was beyond any level of professionalism. When we asked to stop at the beaches or villages we were passing to buy food, drinks, or gifts we were told “no” that could happen later. I was traveling with 3 children and we asked 7 or 8 times to stop at one of the beaches we passed with restaurants so the kids could cool off in the water and we could buy some food. Again simply “no”. We basically drove straight to Pico Cao lookout and back to the city, and tried to drop us off at the harbour beach. Finally the drive told me the tour did not include stopping at the beach. Even though that was my sole request and we drove directly past them multiple times and the tour lasted 2hrs less than I paid for. Of the many travels I’ve done it was the absolute worst experience. In totel we did not get a private tour, only 2/3 the time paid, did not see what we requested. I didn’t even get to spend the money I planned to in the community. STP Explore should be embarrassed, and ashamed. Viator should investigate them, this tour should be fully refunded at a bare minimum. I’ll be reaching out directly to the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism in Sao Tome because tourists can be a great contributor of foreign currency and should not leave the island with this experience, because of bad operators.

  Very nice walk to the island of rolas. We take a fishing boat for 10 euros round trip. Setting foot on the equator is a nice experience and the view is beautiful. A good local restaurant at the foot of the sea, possibility to go around the island on foot or by boat. Be careful if it is with the boat the double round trip price. Generally in the south we voluntarily maintain confusion or half information to double the price after under any pretext. Insure yourself of costs and refuse untimely price changes

  We had an exceptional guide who informed us a lot about the island’s history as well as about life and its inhabitants. Lunch at the beach was great. The island experience in latitude 0 and longitude 0 is unique.

  After missing 3 tours in the days before, this was the first trip, which really has gone. The guide was speaking good englisch, very kindly and a good driver. Also we have had good talks about everything. Really good.
