Valley of the Fallen
Valley of the Fallen is a Francoist regime monument, Catholic basilica and a monumental memorial in the municipality of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, erected at Cuelgamuros Valley in the Sierra de Guadarrama, near Madrid. Franco claimed that the monument was meant to be a "national act of atonement" and reconciliation. The construction works mainly involved free workers and a smaller, albeit significant, percentage of prisoners, these between 1942 and 1950, under the regime of redemption of sentences.
Real Sitio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial
San Lorenzo de El Escorial, also known as El Escorial de Arriba is a town and municipality in the Community of Madrid, Spain, located to the northwest of the region in the southeastern side of the Sierra de Guadarrama, at the foot of Mount Abantos and Las Machotas, 47 kilometres (29 mi) from Madrid. It is head of the same name judicial party. The settlement is popularly called El Escorial de Arriba, to differentiate it from the neighbouring village of El Escorial, also known as El Escorial de Abajo. Felipe II ordered the construction of this Monastery in recognition of the victory of San Quintín, which took place on the day of San Lorenzo in 1557 and is from the King, to erect a mausoleum in memory of his parents and himself, placed under the invocation of Saint Lawrence.

German was a great driver, well aware of his surroundings. We started the trip at the proposed time, very puntual. Oskar was a ver respectful and showed great knowledge of the different sightseeings, places and the history behind it. Thumbs up for the trip ! Will recommend!

Interesting stops. There was a wedding so we didn't get to see the basilica--if you go on a Saturday, this is a risk. There was plenty more to see, though. The guide was informative and did a good job handling 2 languages. There is no lunch stop (no time)--just be prepared.

Well organized tour, with clear and interesting explanations of the guide (given alternately in Spanish and English). The places are beautiful and full of history, both at the Escurial and in the Valle de los Caidos. We can just regret that the visit is at times carried out a little at the pace of charge - in particular, it is a shame not to have more time to admire the paintings at the Escurial: there are still paintings by Titian or Greco that deserve to be stopped!

Manuel (driver) and Oscar (guide) were amazing. Oscar was very knowledgeable and presented so many great pieces of history, art and culture in both English and Spanish. Definitely recommend, especially for Escorial and the valley of the fallen. Great day trip that is concise, beautiful, and full of history

Oscar was a wonderful and knowledgeable tour guide! He did the tour in both English and Spanish for our mixed group we were with. Mid November was what I would consider the best time to go as there were minimal people around if you want to avoid crowds.

Comfortable truck and good materials. Efficient ride, you know everything briefly and with explanations since you get into the truck. Punctual over time. Go to breakfast because you won’t be able to eat on the way or on the promenade. Excellent tour!

Not our first visit to El Escorial, but a very good one! I very much recommend it. These two monuments are musts in a visit to Madrid, and this company made our experience wonderful. Everything was very organized, and our guide Sergio was very knowledgeable. The only thing to keep in mind is that there is no allotted time for any refreshments, so have a hearty breakfast and bring a bottle of water. If you doing this trip in cold weather, do bundle ip, it will be cold for the majority of it. All in all, a great experience!!

The tour was excellent! Christina was fantastic—very informative and kept things moving nicely. The length of the tour and the price were both fair.
