We start our trek to Kala Patthar early in the morning in order to catch remarkable views of the first light of the sun shining on Mt. Everest. However, we need to be prepared for trekking in the dark and cold temperatures (the temperature varies according to the season). Furthermore, there is always a chance for chilly winds which are quite common. As we continue our trek, familiar peaks such as Lingtren, Khumbutse, Changtse, Everest, and Nuptse tower above us. After several hours of ascent, we will be on the top of Kala Patthar. The close-up view of Mt. Everest and other Himalayan peaks from Kalapathar is amazing. The final climb to the Cho La can be a little tricky as the trail curves round a crevasse. The top of the pass is marked by prayer flags and cairns. The scenery of majestic peaks in all directions is breathtaking. Although long, the path leading down to Thangnak is not difficult.

Mount Everest

We start the day early in the morning to complete the long day’s trek ahead. Our trail moves alongside Dudh Pokhari (lake) for a while. We walk for around two hours before descending towards the Renjo La pass. On the way, we are rewarded with extravagant views of the Himalayan and Rolwaling ranges and others. Views from the Renjo La pass are much like that from Gokyo Ri with the third Gokyo Lake and Gokyo Village beneath the gray smear of the Ngozumpa Glacier. We also get outstanding views of Mt. Everest from the top of the pass. Continuing on from the pass, our trail winds down a stone staircase and then moves over loose scree to reach the south bank of Angladumba Tsho Lake. The presence of ice on the trail while descending down can make our descent a bit hazardous. Along the way, we see Relama Tsho and Renjo Lake. We walk down a narrow valley clogged with giant boulders to Lumde where there is a support lodge, but it is often closed.

The trail continues to descend and we cross two bridges before reaching Thame. Overlooking Thame is its famous Gompa situated on a hill to the west. From here, we descend gradually on a trail that passes through a few small villages before reaching Namche Bazaar which is probably the biggest town in the Everest region.

We walk through Sherpa villages noticing their impressive faith in Buddhism and the culture of prayer stones and prayer flags. • Three High Passes - not for the faint-hearted but SO much fun!

My second trip to Nepal was even better than the first. The meticulous planning and arranging by Dawa and Gombu made the whole experience that much better because I did not have to concern myself with getting from the airport to my accommodation, book flights up to Lukla and back or even find myself a trekking guide and porter. It was all done for me. All I had to do was trek, eat, sleep and repeat. My guide was a very experienced trekking guide with more that 20yrs experience. He updates his first aid and mountain safety certificates every year and abides by the protocols set by the governing body. My porter was the most wonderful, smiling, energetic young man - who beat me at cards many times. I cannot emphasise enough how safe I feel, travelling solo as a middle-aged woman, with Adventure Thamserku and their organisation and people. Thank you, I will be back for more adventures soon.

I went on the Everest 3 high passes trek followed by adventure activities in Pokhara with Ang Dawa Sherpa as my guide and Mr. Bhagwat arranging the entire trip. The trek itself was very challenging (and cold) and Ang Dawa was very friendly and helpful during the entire trek and was very open to customization of the trek depending on how my body was coping with the high altitude. It also helped that he knew someone wherever we went and arranged for the best stays while on the trek. Will definitely recommend both of them to my friends and family when they are looking for trekking in Nepal.

Three passes was a challenging trekking. Last summer our group did the Everest three passes trek with our guide Ang Pemba he was very helpful and knowledgeable. Even the trekking is as hard but we competed the trekking without any problem which is good for us. Both the company boss, guide and porters was very nice. See you in future.

Himalayas Adventures helped us with the hotel, Local flights and private car arrangements. They went above and beyond and were always looking for ways to help us in our trip, even getting back my backpack which was lost by the airline while I was hiking. Will definitely use their services again in a future trip to Nepal. Bagwat was particularly outstanding.
