Our tour with Martin Stevens in Stellenbosch was simply outstanding! From the very first minute you could see how passionate and knowledgeable he is about presenting his region. Martin not only knows the most beautiful wineries and hidden highlights around Stellenbosch, but also tells exciting backgrounds about the history, culture and wine tradition of the region. We were particularly impressed by his personal nature – attentive, humorous and perfectly organized. He responded to our interests and customized the tour so we had a truly unique experience. The wine tastings were excellently selected and we visited places we would never have found on our own. If you want to experience Stellenbosch and its surroundings authentically, relaxed and at the same time at the highest level, Martin is in the best hands. Absolute recommendation – we are repeat offenders and we would book again at any time ☺️

Our experience with Martin was nothing short of wonderful. He arrived on time and, on the drive to Stellenbosch, gave us a really valuable backstory on the area and the places we'd be visiting. It was clear that he had taken the time to thoughtfully pair our specific interests in wine with the winemakers we would visit. We enjoyed every one of them, learned a lot about local wines and wine culture, and deeply appreciated the warm hospitality we received from Martin and all of those we visited. This was a top-notch experience, clearly made possible by Martin's personal background in winemaking and his longstanding, solid relationships in Stellenbosch. Highly recommended.

I have been on many wine tours, and this was a wonderful day. Martin brings the right amount of charm and knowledge to the day. His winemaking experience helps explain a lot, and his knowledge of South Africa and its history rounds off the excellent choice of wine estates. We were grateful that Martin chose smaller estates with fewer guests and unique wines.

A wonderful, sunny day visiting a number of wineries with Martin, each in a stunning setting. It was an informative, relaxed, wine-filled day. We enjoyed tasting the wines at each winery and marvelling at the views from each winery. Martin was extremely personable and knowledgeable about wine and the Stellenbosch area. A highly recommended trip. Thank you Martin.

My wife and I hired Martin on the recommendation of friends to help us organize 2 days of wine tasting in Stellenbosch & Franschhoek near Cape Town. He was spectacular. As a former winemaker he listened to our wine preferences arranged a perfect wine tasting itinerary. His connections got us lux treatment at the wineries he booked and allowed access to tastings we might not have otherwise had. He is super well informed on a broad assortment of subjects including wine, history, culture, food, and current events. Finally, he was a calm driver and pleasure to be with. We strongly recommend him.

Martin was supremely knowledgeable and took the trouble to thoroughly explore our tastes and preferences to plan the vineyard choices and wines. Wonderful day.

I would recommend a tour with Martin to absolutely everyone and anyone! We spent three days with him: one in Cape Town, one driving around the peninsula, and one in Franschhoek. Our trip couldn't have been more perfect. My husband and I were excited to experience very different things: I wanted to explore the landscapes and wildlife of a new part of the world, while he was eager to dive into the city scene and sample the region's wines. Martin delivered on all fronts! He’s filled with historical knowledge and is a fabulous storyteller- engaging even me, who is not usually one for history. He shared all kinds of tidbits about the local flora and fauna, which made the drive across the peninsula even more beautiful. When it came to wine, he was incredibly knowledgeable and well-connected (much to my partner’s excitement!), even helping us get into a winery on a day they don’t normally offer tastings. Finally, he's also a great conversationalist, effortlessly engaging us in thoughtful discussions on everything from literature to travel to current events, which was the cherry on top of our entire experience. Overall, our time with Martin was exceptional. He’s an incredibly well-rounded guide, and we’re already hoping to come back and explore Stellenbosch with him in the future!

We had booked a days small group wine tour of Stellenbosch with a tour company, when Martin arrived he explained that the tour was actually full so he had been asked to take my partner and I for the day, this is where our good luck started! Iv read other reviews of time spent with Martin and I personally can’t find the words to describe how fantastic he is! From the moment he collected us from the hotel, he was so personable, his knowledge of South Africa, and the wine region in particular is just first class, It felt like we had the most over qualified guide all to ourselves for the day! All of this was magnified with perfect weather. Martin chose each winery for us to visit and each one we arrived at welcomed us with open arms, you can tell Martin is hugely respected everywhere we went with him. Waterford Estate was our first stop, it was simply breathtaking, we had the wine/chocolate pairing which Martin talked us through. Absolutely loved it! Then onto L’avenir for a wine/cheese pairing, again guided through by Martin expertly before we were lucky enough to have a short tour of the cellar, something not all guests are allowed, again hats off to Martin for organising. This was my favourite of the day, mainly due to the wine, which we gladly purchased a couple of bottles of. Lunch at Glenelly, again took my breath away, great food and wine, so affordable, we couldn’t help comparing what a lunch like that would cost in the UK! Last stop - Hartenberg, by this time we just went with a wine flight and it was a perfect finish to the wine tour. I cannot recommend Martin enough, this day in Stellenbosch was my favourite day of our week trip and that is 100% down to Martin. If you are considering a tour of the area, look no more. Thank you Martin for our day, thanks to you we want to come back and do it all again, so see you again without a doubt! Also thanks for the heads up about Atlas Swift, it again was our favourite stop on our 2 day Franschhoek wine tour. Nicola & Fran
