In this class, you will experience cooking traditional Japanese home dishes such as Osechi (New Year’s meal), festival rice dishes, and bento preparation. We will also use traditional Japanese tableware, such as lacquerware, allowing you to appreciate the beauty of Japan’s food culture alongside cooking. The class is primarily demonstration-based. The menu changes monthly, depending on the season. If you would like the meal to be served in a bento style, please let me know in advance via message, as this may not always be the default presentation.

This was a really good experience, Maya was a wonderful host and we had a good time. Visiting a Japanese home in the beautiful countryside, easily accessible from Okayama station was really a treat for the whole family. The food was excellent and the explanations and demonstrations alongside easy to understand. We can sincerely recommend this course for anybody who wants a great Japanese cultural experience.

We booked this class to learn more about Japanese cooking and had a great time! It's about a 45 minute bus ride from the Okayama Station, but the area is beautiful and well worth the trip! The chef demonstrated how to make 5 Bento Box dishes, and was so patient and knowledgeable when we peppered her with questions! Like a true home cook, she didn't really use recipes but explained all of the ingredients and steps. We will definitely be making some of these dishes when we get home! Great Japanese hospitality and food! Would highly recommend!

My family and I had an amazing time at this class! The chef demonstrated how to make traditional Japanese dishes in her home kitchen. Then we got to help out with one dish at the end of the demonstration. The food was absolutely delicious. She was an extremely talented chef, and we felt very welcome in her home. The whole demonstration was in English (we don't speak Japanese). I should also say that her home was located in an absolutely beautiful rural suburb of Okayama. There is a bus that will get you most of the way there, and the transit system is easy to navigate. At the end, we had to rush off to our next activity, and she kindly offered to drive us to the bus stop. She even waited around to make sure we boarded the bus alright. I strongly recommend this experience. We had a great time!

What a fantastic experience. I had the opportunity to cook/eat a traditional Japanese bento box lunch in the beautiful countryside of Okayama. The food was delicious and it was such a unique and special privilege to be invited into someone's home to cook. I highly recommend this experience.
