  Aland Tours was very flexible in adapting a tour of the nearby island of Foglo. Janne provided drove our family from Mariehamn to the ferry that connects to our “ancestral” island. She arranged to open the Foglo church just for us. We met with distant cousins at the farm that has been in our family for nearly 400 years! Again with Janne’s help we met a Kjell Enkstrom, a renowned artist who is also our distant cousin! Janne helped us understand so much more about Foglo - especially getting to the ferry in time for a treat - ice cream!

  Aland is a wonderful gem of a destination. We enjoyed a great day with Steivi on a full-day private shore excursion. It was a relaxing, enjoyable, well paced experience discovering this beautiful part of the world. Steivi was extremely knowledgeable and fun to be with—like a new found friend. A great mix of beautiful scenery, history, and culture. Steivi was very understanding, kind, and accommodating with my husband who toured with an unexpected medical and mobility issue. Loved meeting the hard working apple juice farmers, visiting Kastelholms Slott, Jan Karlsgarden open-air museum, and eating at the delightful gastropub.   I had a fantastic tour with Janne around Aland. She was a wonderful guide who was lovely to spend the day with and really went out of her way to make the tour a memorable experience for me. I was interested in learning about the Aland parliament, and even though it was closed that day, she managed to have it opened for us so I could see the inside. I got a true insight into Aland and learned a lot on the tour as we explored some beautiful scenic places around the islands. The tour is absolute must do if you are visiting Aland! (I also received a little gift bag with snacks from Aland which was a really nice extra). Thank you to Janne and Steivi.

  My husband and I enjoyed a 7 hour tour of island sites with Anna-Lena. Seeing the sites and listening to the in depth historical and cultural information from our tour guide really gave us a good understanding of this unique self governing community and made us fall a little in love with Åland. We visited a castle, remnants of a Russian fort, an open air museum, an old prison, a cute tea garden, a lock, a church and enjoyed Ålandspannkaka and a fun beer tasting. Not having our own car (came and went by ferry) made this the perfect way to visit Åland! Thank you.

  I just had a fantastic tour with Åland Tours yesterday. I booked my tour with very little notice, and Steivi was quick to communicate with me and accommodate me. My guide, Janne, was very informative and pleasant to spend 3 hours with. The best part of all is that both Steivi and Janne were willing to make the tour flexible so that I could see everything I wanted to see! I highly recommend booking a tour with them!

  I had booked a guided tour through Ålandtours from home. I thought I should be with others - but here I sat alone with Janne, with the wild hair, the vivid eyes and with a glance for nature and the simple. Luxury! “Wherever you want, we’ll go,” she said. And then she suggested that we end up up north on Ålands crown, as she calls it. Which also turned out to be a very special and magical experience. And then we drove off in the little blue car. I saw a viewing tower on the road-- I wanted to go up there. Janne turned the car around and aimed the snot towards the mountain. Uffe on the Berget- named the place. A viewing tower with the finest cafe, most of all reminiscent of something from Tyrol. “You must taste Åland pancakes,” said Janne. Ålsandpancakes with cream foam, compot, coffee and view. And a talk about why I'm really on this journey. Then she showed me an old medieval castle from the 1309th century. Kastelholm. It was nice to see the historic Åland with its prison and museum. Actually I’m more for living life and less for museums, but I’m now happy that I got this fine insight❤️ Next to Kastelholm is a small collection of craftsmen and a restaurant. I bought a couple of beautiful eggs, a ring and some of the local apple must. Unknowingly as I was, Janne could tell that Åland produces about 85% of the entire Finnish apple production because the climate here is completely unique. And as we got into that little blue car and went north, I understood what she meant. There were no newly harvested yellow fields. Here were green lush apple plantations as far as the eye could reach. An Ålandic pride I was to meet Karl Erik Bergman, Jannes' good friend, a man of his best age and fresh as a sea eagle. We turned down a gravel road in the small fishing village where he was born a few houses further down. Now he lived in the red fine wooden house, where most of the grass area was covered with firewood, which he had either found or received. “I am self-sufficient- shooting two animals a year here from the garden. Pulling fish off the boat, growing my own vegetables and smoking my fish” Janne drove us down to the boathouse, which Karl Erik had had to build in the 80s, when the sewers had more or less eaten into the old. The seeds he wasn't enthusiastic for- it was he'd repay the big silk-sorting machine “I am a fisherman in summer, a poet in winter. I’ve met many originals in my life,” he told me with a glimpse in the eye between the fish net and the bows. We left Karl Erik in his fish paradise and drove up to the crown on Åland, as Janne calls it. This is her place. Where she searches when the silence is to be found. The little blue dust whirled up and on a small spot she parked the breathed car. She threw her shoes. This terrain was her- and the feet had it best on moss and rocks. She almost flew over cocks and moss, like it was velours. It became more and more gray and windy. Fogy and tight. Kogler, mos, hooked branches pointed towards the naked red rocks, which gathered in a sacred gathering at the edge of Åland. With the two have in a temperamental embrace. Here she usually swims, but the flow was intense so we found pleasure instead by listening and feeling the pulse out there on the tip with sea views as far as the eye reached. We walked back and found a steep gravel road down to a small bay. There was silence and sight of the sea - we let the clothes slide down around the ankle and surrounded us with the cool water. Refreshed we set ourselves into the little blue and Drive back to Mariehamn. The six hours had been spent - but nevertheless she turned the car in to the right, for a final visit to the brewery Stallhagen, those with the honey and the beer. And there on the terrace sat Ålands best accordeon player—a woman with friends, smiles on her lips and joy in her fingers, and played shows of Evert Taube. My soul, what more do you want?

  We were so pleased that Steivi could fulfill our "last minute" request, thanks for this truly excellent and friendly service! The tour which we did with our guide Janne was perfect as we could see and learn a lot in a very short time. The restaurant where we had lunch with Janne was an excellent choice, we can only recommend this place. (Stallhagen Bryggeri) Many many thanks to Janne and Steivi and I sincerely do hope that we will meet again!
